Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On 08/09/2023, Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Lisa Rios and Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Maria Rendon arrived at IQRA Elementary School and met with director Rubina Ahmed. The purpose of the visit is licensee initiated case management inspection for capacity decrease. Licensee submitted an application for a capacity decease, due to a new program (Serenity Kids) taking over the front house that is currently associated to IQRA’s license. IQRA is requesting to go from a capacity of 60 children ages 2-5, to 26 children. The sketch submitted for the capacity decease measured the single room requested for use for 15 children. LPM Rios spoke to the Director on 8/4/23 letting the Director know that the space would not be adequate for the requested 26 children and the Director stated she would add an additional room to the license at a later time if enrollment allowed. Hours of operation are Monday-Thursday 7:30am-3:30pm and Friday 7:30am – 2:30 pm. At the time of the visit there were no children in care because school is in summer break. Classes will begin August 16, 2023. The fire clearance required for the decrease in capacity was granted on 8/1/2023. For the purpose of this visit a full inspection was not completed. However, a 1 year required inspection was completed after the capacity decrease inspection (see LIC809 dated 8/9/23 for annual required). Classroom measurement is: Indoor total measurements: 554.23 square feet (sq ft) Encumbered space (built in counter with cabinets): 22.06 sq ft 554.23 sq ft – 22.06 = 532.17 sq ft divided by 35= 15 children A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. An exit interview was conducted with the above items discussed and a copy of appeal rights and this report was provided to the Director Rubina Ahmed. Final license determination will be made upon review by the Licensing Program Manager.
