What the inspector wrote

On 5/15/2026 @ 9:00am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Devon Carus conducted a Case Management Unusual Incident inspection to follow up on the self-reported incident that occurred on 05/06/2026 at A Bright Beginning INC. located at 503 S. Prairie ave. Inglewood CA, 90301 The El Segundo Regional Office received the incident report on 05/06/2026. Upon arrival, LPA observed 26 children being supervised by 4 staff members. All center staff that was present during today’s inspection had fingerprint clearance and are associated to the designated license number. LPA interviewed the following: Staff member #1 / Director as the witness. The incident happened towards the beginning of the day during morning drop off at 9:20 am in the parking lot and P1 and P2 ultimately got into a fistfight regarding an accident that had occurred in the day care center’s parking lot. P1 initially bumped into P2’s car and P2 refused to move their car preventing P1 from exiting the center parking lot until the police arrived. Each parent mentioned proceeded to drop their respective children of at the daycare center after this interaction, and proceeded to exit into the lot where the altercation occurred. Police arrived on the scene, and created a report of the incident. Page 1 According to interviews regarding the incident, and camera footage provided by the daycare center, the children belonging to these respective parents (P1 and P2) had already been dropped off inside of the day care center when the incident occurred. Additionally, it was observed that two other parents walking by the incident that were dropping their children off at the center when the fight occurred in the lot had not yet checked their children into care, and immediately rushed their children away from the altercation as it was occurring. LPA Carus inspected the area involved in the incident, observed it to be outside of the accessible area for children in care, and observed that no children who had already been dropped off or checked into the center’s care were involved in the incident. Additionally, LPA Carus observed that this incident does not support a lack of supervision by center staff, or a health, safety, or personal rights risk to children in care. At this time, based on the available information, no violations will be cited. The content of this report was read and discussed in detail with Ericka Andrews, preschool director. An exit interview was conducted. The notice of site visit must be posted for 30 days upon receipt. Page 2
