What the inspector wrote

On 07/10/2024 Licensing Program Analyst Doris Whitmore and Licensing Program Manager (LPM), Karren Starks made an unannounced visit to CCRC Headstart- Reseda for the purpose of conducting a follow up Case Management - Licensee Initiated inspection. The licensee is requesting to change rooms for the Toddler component from Rooms 4 & 3 to Rooms 4 & 9. The licensee does not wish to change the capacity for the facility. The facility will continue to serve 40 preschool children, ages 2 - 5 years of age. in Rooms 1 & 2. LPA inspected and measured the two classrooms that are to be used for the Toddler component. The center is located on the campus of First United Methodist Church of Reseda. There is an approved fire clearance on file for the room change. The following was observed: Age appropriate furniture, equipment, and toys. There were no hazardous conditions in the outdoors area, cushioning was observed under all climbing apparatus, cushioning was in good condition. Toddler capacity - 1186.33 divided by 35 sq. ft.=33 toddlers (Rooms 4 & 9 can accommodate 9 children each for a total of 18 Toddler children) Toddler outdoor space = 2307.73 divided by 75 sq. ft = 30 children Room 4, the children will use the restroom across the walkway from the classroom. LPA observed 2 toilets, 2 urinals and 2 sinks for use. There is also another restroom on the opposite side that has 2 toilets and 2 sinks. Room 9 had one toilet and one sink for use, therefore the capacity will be 15 for that Room The current waiver on file was discussed with LPM and will stand seeing there are no additional changes to the facility at this time. The facility will continue to maintain their schedule, adhering to the conditions of the waiver, in order to comply with the requested indoors activity space. A new license will be issued to show the room change. A copy of this report and Notice of Site visit issued.
