Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Susann Sanchez conducted an unannounced complaint inspection. LPA met with Head Teacher, Marissa Marquez for the purpose of delivering the findings for the above allegation. Teacher Marquez gave LPA a tour of the facility. LPA observed 20 children and 4 staff. During the investigation, Director Tamela Tyler admitted that on July 24, 2023 a child was playing with their plate and broke the plate during lunch time. Director did not offer child a new plate but instead threw away half of the styrofoam plate away in the trash and let the child continue to eat their food on only half the plate. Based on LPA interviews conducted, the preponderance of evidence standard has been met, therefore the above allegations are found to be substantiated. California Code of Regulations, (Title 22, Division 12, Chapter number 1) are being cited on the attached LIC 9099D. An exit interview was conducted and report was reviewed with the Director. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to maintain posting as required will result in a $100.00 civil penalty. Appeal rights were discussed and provided to the Head Teacher Marissa Marquez.
