What the inspector wrote

On August 4, 2023 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jillinda Chandler made an announced visit to Bright Horizons at Ocean Park Preschool for the purpose of conducting a Case Management- Licensee Initiated inspection. LPA met with Nara Keheyan - director, who provided a tour of the center. The center is a two story building, with 12 classrooms in total. The Licensee is requesting to decrease their preschool program's capacity from 138 - 124, the program plans to discontinue using room "Twos 1" as a preschool classroom and dedicate it to the Infant/Toddler component (197418675). Classrooms dedicated to the preschool program will be rooms (according to facility sketch: Twos 2, Twos 3 (down stairs), pre-school 1and 2 and K- Prep 1 and 2. The center was inspected inside and out and the following measurements were taken. There is an approved fire inspection conducted by Inspector Chris Davis of the Santa Monica Fire Department. Indoor activity space: 4638.15 divided by 35 sq, ft. = 132 children Outdoor activity space: 4450.84 divided by 75 sq. ft. = 59 children 1 toilet per 15 children: 16 x 15 = 240 children 1 sink per 15 children: 16 x 15 = 240 children. The classrooms were, sanitary and clean with age appropriate furniture and fixtures The out doors area had, age appropriate toys and equipment. There was shading (trees, umbrellas and shade sails) and benches and chairs for resting. LPA did not observe any hazardous conditions during today visit. Based on todays observations and measurements the center shall be recommended for a capacity of 124 children, determined by the Licensee's request. An exit interview was conducted, the report was discussed and a copy of this report was provided to Nara Keheyan - director.
