What the inspector wrote

On 11/04/2025 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Tyra Chavies conducted an unannounced Annual/Required Inspection at this facility to ensure the health and safety standards as required governing California Family Child Care Homes (FCCH). Present at the time of inspection is licensee, Epelina Campos. During the time of the inspection, LPA observed 6 children in care being supervised by licensee. Licensee's states hours of operation for the FCCH are Monday- Friday 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM. LPA Chavies verified the facility phone number is (424) 772-6186 and verified email address: eppybrown0@gmail.com. This home has 1 and half bedrooms, 1 bathroom, living room, kitchen/dining room, front yard and a backyard. The following areas will be accessible to children in care: Living Room (Primary Care area) Bathroom and back yard. The following area with be inaccessible to children in care: Bedroom #1, kitchen/dining room and front yard. Parents and children are to enter through the front door. LPA Chavies observed age-appropriate toys and books at the time of inspection in the primary care area (living room). Indoor furniture and equipment are in good condition, free of sharp, loose and/or pointed parts. Gates separating "on limit" areas from "off limit" areas are placed in the correct position. LPA Chavies did observe an open face heater in the living without a barricade. LPA advised licensee that a barricade must be placed in front of the heater when children are in care. If a child becomes sick at the facility, space in living room will be used as an isolation room. All the cleaning products are stored and made inaccessible to the children. LPA Chavies toured the outdoor activity space. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in safe condition and is free of hazards. LPA observed age-appropriate toys and areas around climbing equipment for cushioning material to absorb falls. Licensee was reminded that car seats are used for transportation purposes only and that Highchairs are not used for sleeping children. Per the licensee, there are no weapons or firearms on premises. Per the licensee, there are no bodies of water or pools on the premises. Licensee has verified that there are two dogs in the home and the dogs are kept separate from the children in care. The facility does provide Lunch and PM snack Monday - Thursday and on Fridays the parents are to provide their child's lunch. LPA advised licensee that if a child doesn't not bring lunch, then it will be the responsible\302\240 of the facility to provide the proper ratio of nutrients to the child in care. The food preparation area and storage areas are clean and in sanitary condition. Drinking water is available both indoors and outdoors. The facility has a working smoke and carbon monoxide detector. LPA inspected and verified that there is a 3A40BC fire extinguisher on the premises. POSTING REQUIREMENTS: License and other relevant notices are posted on the wall (PUB 394, LIC 9148,). File Review: LPA reviewed 6 children files and observed that files are complete with some necessary LIC forms. (LIC 700, 701, 995E, 627, LIC 9227) and immunization records. LPA reviewed 1 staff file as well as licensee's documents and forms ( LIC 501, 503, 508, Finger print clearance and TB test results.) Fire and disaster drills are being conducted as scheduled every month. Licensee's Mandated Reporter Certificates are valid. One or more of the employee's has a valid Pediatric First Aid and CPR. Commencing September 1, 2016, SB 792, prohibits a person from being employed or volunteering at a childcare facility or family day care if he or she has not been immunized against influenza, pertussis and measles. LPA discussed the influenza waiver during the inspection. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee [or facility representative] of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Licensee [or facility representative] was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. A licensee may file an appeal, in writing 15 business days from the date of receiving the penalty assessment. Per Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations,\302\240 Division 12, Chapter 3, this facility is receiving Technical Violations.(Please see LIC 9102) Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee Epelina Campos. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
