What the inspector wrote

On 8/11/2023 Licensing Program Analyst Isabel Ortega met with facility Director Sascha Ridgewell and conducted an Annual Random inspection. LPA toured and inspected the facility in accordance with the facility sketch. Present this morning 12 children and three Staff providing care and supervision. Facility is located on an Elementary School- Mitchell Community School, there are a total of three rooms Room #1-Group 1- TK, Kinder and 1st grade, Room #2 Group 2 - Front Room 2nd and 3rd graders and Room #3- Group 3 Big Kids- 4th through 6th graders, and one play yard utilize for morning and after school care. Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. LPA observed individual storage for children's belongings. The classroom consists of filtered water stored in igloo Room #3 container with individual one time use disposable cups for children. Children also have the option to bring their own water bottles from home. An isolation area was inspected, which takes place in the Directors office. Children have the option for rest time and quiet time if needed. Age appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability and good repair. Toilets flush properly; toilet and sinks are reachable by the children. Each restroom has adequate toilet paper, hand soap and paper towels available. Restrooms are cleaned, restocked with toiletries and sanitized by on site school facility custodian. Facility operates Regular hours Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Morning care Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 6:30 a.m. 8:15 a.m. after school care 2:45 p.m. to 6 :00 p.m. Wednesday from 1:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Minimal days varied: 12:15 p.m. to 6:00 p. m. Summer care is Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. All day sunshine(professional development days) 6:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Facility provides afternoon snacks for children. Food allergies are noted in the classroom. Emergency kit is completed. Facility had all the required posted documents: Facility License, Notice of Parent's Rights Poster, Emergency Disaster Plan, and Earthquake Preparedness Checklist. First Aid supplies, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide and the fire Extinguisher(2A10BC) is reading in green (serviced on 04/03/2023) and meets the Fire Marshal codes and standards all were observed and in operable condition. Emergency Drills are conducted every sixth month last drill was conducted and documented on 08/11/2023 at 8:45 a.m. Trash cans with tight lids were observed. Snacks were inspected, and are properly labeled, stored, and within expiration date. Refrigerator is clean and operating at the proper temperature. The snack area is adequately equipped, clean, and free from hazards. Cleaning supplies are out of reach of children. The outdoor play area was inspected and observed to be free of hazards, loose, or sharp objects. Equipment was inspected for safety, cushioning material, good repair, and age appropriateness. Climbing structures other play equipment were found to be securely anchored with adequate resilient cushioning material underneath and around the perimeter. Children are provided with non-contaminated water, individual water bottles are brought from home and refilled with water from filtered water faucet. Facility provided sample of analysis sample water collected and results for lead were provided on 02/01/2022 with less than the 5.5 ppb allowed. The playground is well fenced all around, and no bodies of water observed in the outdoor play area. There is adequate shade area for rest. Children have access to water fountains on the campus during outdoor play. Also, filtered water from the classroom is available during outdoor play. Facility maintains adequate teacher child ratio. Care and supervision were evaluated and determine to meet the basic needs of children. The parent board was reviewed and has all the required forms posted accessible to parents. Children's records were reviewed for completeness. Health History, Emergency contact and Medical Exams; Immunization Records are all in the children's file. The facility roster was up to date and all staff have been fingerprinted and association to the designated license number. Directors and teachers are currently certified in Pediatric CPR/First Aid which expires until 04/27/2025. Child Care Provider Mandated Reporter (AB1207) training is dated 12/27/2022. The following Incidental Medical Services (IMS) were discussed. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. Upon hired date all staff are required to be immunized and show proof of immunization records according to Title 22 regulations. Beginning on January 1, 2018, Assembly Bill 1207 (2015) requires all licensed providers, applicants, directors and employees to complete training as specified on their mandated reporter duties and to renew their training every two years. Applicants must meet requirements as a precondition to licensure. New employees shall have 90 days from date of employment to complete training as required. Director and staff is aware all staff are mandated child abuse reporters and are required to any suspected child abuse to the Child Abuse Hotline at (800) 540-4000.
