Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On 01/14/2026, at 10:00 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Shane Loftus conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection of the above-mentioned Child Care Center (CCC). LPA met with Danika King, Director of the CCC and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA notes this inspection will also address the CCC\342\200\231s request to increase the capacity from 27 to 60. LPA in the company of the Director, toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. The CCC operates from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The CCC is combined with a preschool license. The CCC currently utilizes two classrooms for child care services. LPA observed ten (10) children along with three (3) teachers providing care and supervision LPA observed a menu and required licensing forms posted prominently in the main lobby of the CCC. LPA observed age-appropriate toys and furnishings throughout the CCC. Toys include auditory, visual and tactile stimulation items as well as items to enhance the children's manipulative skills. LPA observed the CCC has ample cribs and napping cots for children in care with varying levels of mobility. LPA observed operable refrigerators in each classroom. The refrigerators contain milk and formula that is labeled and dated. The CCC also provides snacks and lunch for older infants. LPA observed operable carbon monoxide detectors throughout the CCC. Children in care have access to available drinking water both inside the classroom and outside in the play area. Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. Continued on 809-C For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the Licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP). LPA verified the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP. Medications, sharps, and cleaning supplies were observed to be in areas of the CCC that are accessible to staff and inaccessible to children in care. The restrooms in the CCC are in clean and sanitary operating condition and changing tables at the CCC are within arm\342\200\231s reach of sinks. The CCC uses a combination of the Sprout About application and a manual process for Sign In/Out purposes. LPA reviewed a sampling of the records which contain the children's arrival and departure times along with entries from the children\342\200\231s authorized representative. The CCC's outdoor playground is separated into areas for children of differing ages. The outdoor area is fully enclosed, and the entry/exit points are secured. LPA observed age-appropriate toys/play equipment in the play area which are in suitable condition and the footing in the area is varied. The play structures in the playground area have adequate cushioning material to absorb falls. There is shade available in the area created by shade sails. No bodies of water were observed on site. Staff and children\342\200\231s records were reviewed. The children\342\200\231s records were complete and found to contain emergency contact information as well as immunization records. LPA reviewed a sampling of Infant Needs/Services, Individual Infant Sleep Plans and 15-minute sleep logs. Staff records were reviewed and found to be current with Mandated Reporter training, CPR/First Aid training, staff qualifications, and other required licensing forms. Director states there are no firearms or ammunition stored on site. Interior Measurements: Room 1 (7\342\200\231 x 13\342\200\231) + (25\342\200\231 x 23\342\200\231) = 575\342\200\231 There is a total of 1 toilet and 2 sinks in this room. Room 2 (8\342\200\231 x 7.05\342\200\231) + (25\342\200\231 x 11.75\342\200\231) + (11\342\200\231 x 13.83\342\200\231) = 502.28\342\200\231. There are a total of 1 toilet and 3 sinks in this room. Room 3 (8.67\342\200\231 x 32\342\200\231) + (16.67\342\200\231 x 11.92) + (15.92\342\200\231 x 11.67\342\200\231) = 660.44\342\200\231. There are a total of 2 toilets and 4 sinks in this room. LPA was unable to measure the current dimensions of the play yard during today\342\200\231s inspection. Fire clearance for a capacity of 60 was granted on 12/24/2025 by the Los Angeles County Fire Department. An increase to a capacity of 60 is pending the following: 1. The applicant will submit a waiver request from the outdoor space capacity to be able to use the yard in a staggered schedule. Copy of the yard schedule will be provided for the record. The applicant was reminded that waivers are granted on a case-by-case basis after being reviewed by Management. 2. Current measurements for the outdoor play yard. 3. Licensing Program Manager approval. To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey may be sent to the email address provided.
