What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), V. Wheatley met with licensee Ava Brown at 10:00am for the purpose of conducting a case management inspection. The licensee is requesting to increase the capacity for the preschool. The licensee is requesting to increase the capacity from 9 preschool children to 23 preschool children. LPA observed preschool children on the premises today on the playground upon arrival. LPA observed the facility operating in accordance with the Los Angeles County Public Health Guidelines in regards to Covid-19. LPA observed signs posted, sanitizing station at the front door and temperature checks. There is a camera monitoring children and staff on the premises. LPA inspected and measured the two preschool classrooms which are on the easts side of the building. The large room measured 494 square feet = 14 children and the smaller room near the preschool restroom is 297 square feet = 9 children. Total 23 children. The classrooms were inspected by the Los Angeles Fire Department and granted a fire clearance. The facility is equipped with fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors. LPA observed adequate lighting and ventilation. Age appropriate toys and equipment were observed and in good repair. The children are using their own separate toys at this time. Cubbies are available for their belongings. No pillows, stuffed animals and the like are allowed at this time. PAGE 2 LPA observed adequate lighting and ventilation. No pillows, stuffed animals and the like are allowed at this time. LPA observed cots and individual bedding which is kept separated. LPA inspected the restroom and observed 4 toilets and 4 sinks = 60 capacity. The large outdoor area will be used for preschool children. This yard measured 1794 square feet = 24 preschool children plus 768 square feet closest to 11th Avenue = 10 preschool children. Total 34 children. LPA inspected the kitchen which is used for preparing food for the children. The food is served separately and individually. The kitchen is off-limits and the door will remain closed at all times. A license will be granted to increase the capacity when the following corrections are completed and submitted: 1. Licensee will bring in more tables to accommodate more children 2. Sign for kitchen door "off limits to children" 3. Hand washing signs at each sink in the facility 4. Remove rocking chair with pillows/cushions 5. Cover poles outside on the large playground 6. Repair or replace mats with rubber spikes 7. Remove water hose/make inaccessible Exit interview. A copy of this report will be sent via email to the licensee by Read Receipt.
