What the inspector wrote

On 10/21/2024 Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Brittany Lovest and Cristina Castellanos conducted an unannounced case management inspection for the purpose of ensuring the standards are being met in accordance with California Tittle 22 Regulations and California Health and Safety Codes. LPAs met with Director Elaine Wikkramatillek and toured the infant/ toddler component in facility both indoors and outdoors. During today\342\200\231s inspection there were a total of 37 children, staff 7, providing care and supervision. LPAs observed Infant room (Guppies and Sea Horse) with a total of 21 children and 4 staff and Toddler room (Penguins) with a total of 16 children and 3 staff. LPAs observed children napping during time of tour. Based on observations, Children\342\200\231s Journey Learning Center did not comply with Health-Related Services 101226(e)(3)(A). Prescription medications shall be administered in accordance with the label directions as prescribed by the child's physician. At approximately 1:00pm LPAs observed Child 1\342\200\231s Epi-Pen. Epi-pen was stored in a locked container in the Director\342\200\231s office. The Epi-pen was labeled with the child\342\200\231s name, pharmacy labeled box and an expiration date of 10/18/2024. Director provided email from child\342\200\231s family following conversation with LPAs regarding expiration date. The letter from Child\342\200\231s 1 Physician, dated 7/29/2024, states Child 1\342\200\231s \342\200\234is no longer allergic to peanuts\342\200\235.LPAs provided a copy of the incidental Services form LIC 9921. During today\342\200\231s visit the facility is being cited a Type B, please see LIC 9099D. An exit interview was conducted with Director Elaine Wikkramatillek. A copy of this report and appeal rights were discussed and left with Director Elaine. Appeal rights were explained and given to the Director. A copy of this report was provided to the Director along with the Notice of Site Visit.
