What the inspector wrote

On 5/7/26, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) V. Wheatley conduced an announced case management inspection and met with Licensee Greg Marick and the Head of School Karen Cuevas. The purpose of the inspection is to change the facility's capacity for infants. The facility is currently licensed for 24 infants. The licensee is requesting a total of 35 infants. The classroom was previously a Toddler 2 classroom which is now going to be Infant 3 classroom. LPA toured the facility and observed the infant children supervised properly. LPA observed 8 infants in Infant Room 1 and 10 infants in Infant Room 2. LPA inspected the Infant Classroom #3 and observed the following: age appropriate toys, cubbies, refrigerator for food, trash bin with a lid. The parents provide the infant's food. The food preparation takes place inside of the classroom. LPA observed a children's restroom. LPA observed one toilet, one sink and diaper changing table. LPA observed a separate napping area with cribs. Indoor Classroom measurements: The total indoor measurements for Infant Classroom #3 is a total of 456 square feet which will accommodate 13 capacity. Based on today’s measurements, facility indoor space, there is enough to accommodate the request. PAGE 2 Outdoor Play Measurements: The Infant Classroom #3 outdoor play space measurements contain a total of 600 square feet which will accommodate 8 infants maximum. Based on today’s measurements, facility’s outdoor space total is less than the requested 12 infants. The licensee has submitted a playground waiver to the department to utilize the new toddler yard and stagger use of the infant outdoor patio. The playground equipment is in safe condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. LPA observed age appropriate play equipment and artificial turf. There is no swimming pool or other bodies of water on the premises . LPA observed the required signs posted at the entrance: (license, parent's rights poster, snack menu, emergency disaster plan, facility sketch and earthquake checklist.) LPA observed a fire extinguisher, carbon monoxide and smoke detector on the premises. The Department received an 850 fire clearance from the LA County Fire Department for 35 infants. The Department will be issued a license for the additional infants when the playground waiver is approved by management. Final license determination will be made upon review by the Licensing Program Manager. Exit interview conducted. The report was read and provided to Licensee. Notice of Site Visit will be posted for 30 days.
