What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Ashley Calderon conducted an unannounced annual/random inspection at the above facility. LPA was granted entrance and met with Licensee Tawanna Crawford and informed her of the purpose for the visit. LPA provided the inspection Entrance Checklist (LIC 126). Licensee guided LPA on a tour of the facility inside and outside of the facility premises. During visit there was 1 children present during the inspection, Licensee stated school-age children will be present after school hours. Licensee provides transportation to and from school for children in care, if needed. Individuals residing in the home have been discussed and noted. Licensee provides care to children ages 3 years to 12 years old and operation days/ hours are Monday- Thursday 5am-11:59pm and Fridays from 12am- 5pm, closed Saturday and Sunday. Licensee provides overnight care. Children does not provide care for infants. This is a one story 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom home which consist of a living room, day care room, dining room area, kitchen, detached garage, and fenced backyard. Off limits areas include two bedrooms and the detached garage. All areas identified on the facility sketch that are accessible for children to use were inspected for safety, comfort, and cleanliness. Off Limit areas were gated off with a baby gate for children's safety. The following was observed and reviewed during this inspection: LPA reviewed required posted documentation for Facility License, Publication (PUB) 394- Notification of Parent Rights and Licensing Form (LIC) 9148- Earthquake Preparedness form. All documents were observed to be posted in the entrance of the home and the day care room. Facility records were reviewed for LIC 9040- Facility Roster, LIC 610- Facility Disaster Plan and Disaster drill log, last drill conducted on 04/26/24, Licensee's CPR/First Aid Expires: 10-3-2025/ Mandated Reporter Training Expires on 10/30/25. (Page.1, Continuation 809-C....) Licensee and Volunteer provide transportation, valid Drivers License was reviewed. LPA reviewed three children records, LPA gave advise on immunization records for day care children and children enrolled in school and advise on school age children enrollment documentation. Licensee provided LPA with updated Application for Licensing filing for the above facility. LPA tested and observed an operable carbon monoxide detector and a smoke detector in the home. A fully charged Fire extinguisher (2A10BC) was observed and last serviced on 11/03/23, licensee gets extinguisher inspected yearly. The home maintains telephone service (mobile).LPA observed cleaning compounds and sharp objects such as knives located in the kitchen inaccessible to children in care. Per Licensee, no children require medication, LPA provided documentation's and advise on what is needed for children who need medication when enrolled. Per licensee, poisons is stored in the garage, door remains locked. LPA advised Licensee that all poisons must be locked away, not only inaccessible. Per Licensee there are no firearms stored in the home and no pets. Food is provided by Licensee. LPA advised Licensee if children bring food from home it must be labeled with the child\342\200\231s name and properly stored or refrigerated. The home is observed to be clean and orderly. There are toys and other age-appropriate materials available for children. LPAs observed a wall heater at the entrance of the facility that is inaccessible to children. Children use the restroom in the hallway. The outdoor play area was observed to be fenced and contained basketball hoop, balls, shaded area with an age appropriate picnic table. Per Licensee, children are supervised while playing outside. LPAs did not observe any pools, spas, or other bodies of water. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. (Page 2, Continuation 809-C...) LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02- CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. During the exit interview, the Licensee, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. Based on today\342\200\231s visit, Per Regulations Title 22 there facility was found in compliance, and no citations were given today. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licens ee T awanna Crawford.
