What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), V. Wheatley met with the applicants, Lisa & Tavi Perttula at 11am for the purpose of conducting a prelicensing inspection for a new license. The applicants are requesting a license for 44 preschool children. The acting director was also present. LPA did not observe any children on the premises. LPA and applicants followed Los Angeles County Guidelines in regards to Covid-19. LPA observed the Covid-19 signs posted at the entrance, health screening and temperature check procedures. LPA also observed sign in and out procedures. LPA observed adequate lighting and ventilation in every classroom. The facility has central heating and air conditioning. Age appropriate toys and equipment were observed in good repair. The children are using their own separate toys at this time. No pillows, stuffed animals and the like were observed. LPA observed cubbies and adequate storage for the children's belongings. LPA observed napping mats. The bedding/linen will be kept separate in the children's cubbies. FOOD SERVICE - The parents will provide the children's food and snacks. The food will be served individually. The kitchen is off-limits. LPA observed extra food, water bottles and utensils. LPA observed cleaning supplies and disinfectant which is kept out of the reach of children. LPA observed a first aid kit. Drinking water will be provided for children to freely drink. The ill children and the staff restroom located in room #2 will be used for ill children. The preschool office will be used for isolation. The facility was inspected by the Santa Monica Fire Department and granted a fire clearance for 44 capacity. The facility is equipped with fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors. PAGE 3 Commencing September 1, 2016, SB 792, prohibits a person from being employed or volunteering at a child care facility or family day care if he or she has not been immunized against influenza, pertussis and measles. Exemption were also discussed. Beginning on January 1, 2018, AB 1207, requires all licensed providers, applicants, directors and employees to complete training as specified on their mandated reporter duties and to renew their training every two years. Volunteers are encouraged but not required to take the training. Website: www.mandatedreporterca.com Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Install padding/cushion to the rear area protruding of the property to prevent injury to children 2. Cover and make the rear Tree Stump safe. 3. Make the water hose inaccessible. 4. Playground waiver 5. Lead Prevention Training Course An exit interview was conducted. A copy of this report will be provided to the applicants by email via read receipt. PAGE 2 LPA inspected and measured four preschool classrooms with the following measurements: Classroom 1 is at the entrance and measured 333 square feet. There is a children's restroom and a separate sink located inside of this area. Classroom 2 - has a sink and measured 441 square feet. Classroom 3 - is attached to the patio measured 228 square feet. Classroom 4 - (on the westside of the building near 17th Street) measured 420 square feet. Total square feet = 1422 / 41 capacity LPA inspected the kitchen which is used for preparing food for the children. TOILETS & SINKS -LPA inspected the two children's restrooms and observed 3 toilets and 3 sinks = 45 capacity. OUTDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE - LPA inspected the Outdoor Activity Space which measured (front and back) 2384 square feet. The total capacity for indoor is = 41 capacity/children. The total capacity for outdoor play space is = 32 capacity/children. The "Notification of Parent's Rights" (PUB394) was discussed with the licensee and the licensee was advised that it must be posted in an area of the home accessible to parents. Applicant was made aware of The Child Care Advocate Program (CCAP) that is administered from within the Community Care Licensing Division. CCAP participates in many community activities and special projects to disseminate information on the State\342\200\231s licensing role, provide information to the public and parents on childcare licensing, and provide many other helpful resources to the licensees and the public.
