What the inspector wrote

On 03/14/2022 at 8:00 a.m. Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Deborah Lowe met with site supervisors Jennifer Pearlman and Eliza Enbom. The purpose of the visit was a 2nd announce pre-licensing inspection at the facility to ensure that health, safety and personal rights as requires by Title 22 and Health and Safety Regulations governing California Child Care Centers will be met. There were no children present during this inspection. This is an application for 24 infants, ages 6 weeks to 24 months. The child care center will operate Monday \342\200\223 Friday 7:30 a.m. \342\200\223 6:00 p.m. The fire clearance was approved on 02/14/2022. The 1st pre-licensing visit was conducted on 02/24/2022. LPA Lowe is conducting a 2 nd pre-licensing visit to remeasure the outdoor activity area and evaluate the facility corrections needed before a license application will be considered. Outdoor Play measurements are: Infant outdoor area is located behind rooms 11 & 12 on the North side of building. Remeasuring the outdoor play area due to changes made to the outdoor space since pre-licensing visit that occurred on 2/24/2022. (30.33 x 27.25) = 826.49 + (25.33 x 10.42) = 263.94 + (26.75 x 11.75) = 314.31 + (30.33 x 34.05) = 1,032.74 Total outdoor activity space: 826.49 + 263.94 + 314.31 + 1,032.74 = 2,427.47 divided by 75 square feet = 32 infants . LPA Lowe evaluated the following needed corrections: Verify appropriate age usage of outdoor play structure \342\200\223 3/14/2022 LPA observed the outdoor play structure to have been made inaccessible to infants with the use of a 4\342\200\231 high black mesh fence surrounding play structure. Arrange room #11 and #12 to ensure changing table is within arm\342\200\231s distance of a sink \342\200\223 3/14/2022 LPA observed handwashing sinks within arms distance of the changing tables in both room #11 and room #12. Provide potty chairs for potty training infants \342\200\223 3/14/2022 LPA observed 5 potty chairs available for potty training infants. The gate outside of room #12 to outdoor play is in need of repair \342\200\223 3/14/2022 LPA observed the walk through gate repaired and observed gate was able to securely close. Secure green chain link fence covering in outdoor play area near sandbox \342\200\223 3/14/2022 LPA observed green fence covering secured to chain link fence. Applicant was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with applicant and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed applicant of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. LPA reviewed with applicant the LIC 311A, Records To Be Maintained At The Facility, for child\342\200\231s records, personnel records, administrative records, and documents to be posted. Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) regularly sends information to licensed facilities, providers, and stakeholders by way of Provider Information Notices (PIN), Program Quarterly Update Newsletters and other important information communication platform.
