What the inspector wrote

On 10/17/2024 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jillinda Chandler made an announced visit to the Leap and Bound Academy day care center, located at 601 Pacific Coast Highway, Redondo Beach, CA. 90277. The purpose of the visit was to conduct a "Case Management - Licensee Initiated" capacity increase inspection for the current infant program. LPA met with Charles Thacker (licensee) and Erin Tamashiro (director).The licensee is requesting to increase the infant program from 24 to 36 infants, ages 0 - 24 months. Licensee reduced the preschool indoor activity space to extend the current infant indoor activity space. The entire side of the facility located on the lower level section, near Spring and Pacific Coast Hwy. was dedicated to the infant program. Both programs were inspected and measured according to the provided facility sketch. There is an approved fire inspection on file conducted on 8/1/2024, by Inspector Curt Mahoney of the Redondo Beach Fire Department. Measurements for the indoor activity space = 1237.38, which will not accommodate the requested capacity Measurements for the outdoor activity space = 934.83 (ramp was converted to a porch space for activities), which will continue not to accommodate the requested capacity, the facility has a current waiver on file, however a revised plan of operation shall be submitted for consideration. There were 4 sinks and 4 toilets dedicated to the infant program, which will accommodate the requested capacity. Based on todays measurements and observations, the facility shall be recommended for an increase in capacity to 35 children, based on the indoor measurements.. An exit interview was conducted and a copy of this report was discussed and provided to Charles Thacker - Licensee
