What the inspector wrote

On 12/5/25 at 8:45AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Angela Luz met with Licensee Kevin Cox to conduct an unannounced annual random inspection. Also present for at the time of inspection was Licensee's child. Licensee Ronyee Cox arrived at 9:25AM. The home was toured to conduct a Health and Safety Inspection. Entrance checklist for Family Child Care Home was provided and licensee was reminded of documents to be posted in a prominent, publicly accessible area of the facility. Days and hours of operation are 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Licensee Kevin toured the on limit areas of the facility with LPA. The ON LIMIT AREAS are the dining room, living room, bathroom in hallway, and backyard. The OFF LIMIT AREAS are 4 bedrooms, primary bathroom, kitchen, and car park. The kitchen and the car park are inaccessible by child gates. The bedrooms and primary bathroom are inaccessible by locked doors. The home is neat and free of debris with heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. The isolation area is the dining room. Children in care spend the majority of the time in the living room. The outdoor play area is free from defects or dangerous conditions and is fully fenced. There is shade and age appropriate materials available. There have been no changes from areas previously identified as off limits or alterations to existing buildings or grounds. There are no bodies of water. All hazardous materials and toxins are kept out of the reach of children. Licensee understands that any materials that are labeled \342\200\234Keep out of reach of children\342\200\235 or have similar messaging should be kept out of reach from children in care. Licensee states that there are no firearms or other weapons on the premises. The home has a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher that was newly purchased in 4/2025, working smoke detector, working carbon monoxide detector, and working telephone. LPA reminded that fire extinguishers should be serviced or newly purchased once a year. There are ample age-appropriate toys that appear to be safe and in good condition. Licensee states they use redirection and talking with the child as forms of discipline. Licensee understands that children's personal rights should not be violated, including but not limited to, no corporal punishment, interference with eating, intimidation, or other actions of a punitive nature. Licensee understands that children are treated with dignity, receive safe, healthful, and comfortable accommodations. LPA reminded that Licensee is required to be present for 80% of operating hours per day. Licensee understands how to report Unusual Incidents/Injuries. Licensees' Pediatric CPR/First Aid is current and expires 3/2027. Licensees Mandated Reporter Training for Child Care Providers expired 8/2025. Licensee was reminded that Mandated Reporter Training (AB1207) and CPR/First aid certifications needs to be renewed every two years. A copy of the licensee\342\200\231s immunization is on file. The Licensee conducts and documents fire and disaster drills every six months, last drill was on 6/13/25. A current copy of the facility roster was viewed, and a copy was obtained. Licensee carries liability insurance for the daycare and has families sign Affidavit Regarding Liability Insurance (LIC 282) as an added protection. LPA reviewed 3 children files during today's inspection. All files reviewed today were complete. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for and removing any recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP . When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. During the exit interview, the Licensee Ronyee Cox, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS.
