What the inspector wrote

On 02/11/2026, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Adrian Risher conducted an unannounced Annual Random Inspection for the preschool license with a toddler component. LPA met with Site Supervisor Briana Rodriguez , and toured the facility indoors and outdoors. The days and hours of operation are 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday. LPA observed 15 children with 4 staff. Madison Sanello, Director arrived at 10:07am while LPA was conducting the inspection. The children were being properly supervised in the classrooms and in the outside play area. The facility has 3 classrooms. LPA observed designated cubbies in each classroom. LPA observed age appropriate equipment in each classroom. LPA observed cots that are used for napping. The capacity and limitations as specified on the license are being maintained. The space was found to be clean and free from any potential hazards. The furniture was found to be in good repair and age appropriate. The isolation area is in the office. LPA observed proper sign in/out documentation. LPA inspected the bathroom located downstairs in the yellow classroom. The bathroom has 2 sinks and 2 toilets that are operating properly. LPA observed the toilets flushing properly. The toilet and sinks are reachable by the children in care. The restroom has adequate toilet paper and paper towels available. The bathroom was found to be clean. There is adequate lighting/ventilation in the bathroom area. The kitchen area was inspected. Site Supervisor stated the preschool provides 2 snacks to the the students throughout the day. The snacks are stored in the kitchen area. Parents provide the child's lunch each day or the school offers a hot meal program. LPA observed a menu posted on the parent board. Food preparation area was toured for safety, cleanliness and proper equipment. Food and snacks were reviewed for availability, quantity and appropriateness to children in care. A review of cleaning and food supply storage areas was made. There are no firearms or ammunition allowed or stored on the premises. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible. All poisons are kept in a locked storage area. Cleaning supplies and medications are stored in a locked cabinet in the kitchen area. The facility has one or more functioning fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors that meet statutory requirements. Outdoor equipment was inspected for safety, cushioning material, good repair and age appropriateness. LPA observed the required shade, drinking water and fencing were inspected. The play area was inspected for hazards and inaccessibility to bodies of water. There is no swimming pool or other bodies of water on the premises . There are 2 outdoor play areas on the premises. The toddler outside play is located on upstairs in the back of the building and the preschool outside play area is located on the first level in the front of the building. LPA completed file reviews for children and staff. LPA observed more than one staff with current CPR and Pediatric first aid certification. LPA reviewed disaster and fire drill logs which were current. No deficiencies will be cited today. Facility representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1597.16 . For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 ( PIN 21-21.1-CCP .). LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives (Interim Licensing Standards) outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP . LPA referred facility representative to the Department website for lead: Lead Toxicity Prevention and Water Testing Information ( https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/water-testing-information ) LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with facility representative and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed facility representative of the importance of checking for and removing any recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP . When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department.
