What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Victoria Hunt conducted a Tele-Visit with applicant Maria Garcia, who guided analyst on a tour of the facility for a case management inspection increase capacity. This visit was held virtually due to COVID-19 Emergency Response. This home consist of a two story 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathroom, home with kitchen/dining, family/living room. LPA inspected the facility in accordance to the facility sketch. Main care is conducted in the playroom which is the designated (dining/living room). Age appropriate toys and furniture were observed to be on the premises of this facility. There are multiple cubbies in which toys are stored in, there are also cubbies in which children can store their belongings. Educational/learning material were posted throughout the walls of the day-care. Physical Plant: Home is clean and orderly, age appropriate toys and play equipment, working smoke detector and carbon monoxide.There is a designated isolation area for ill children and the facility sketch is current and up to date. Kitchen: The following is inaccessible: Sharp items, objects and cleaning items. Cleaning items are stored in the lower cabinets which have child proof locks on the doors. Children utilize a bathroom located near a hallway. The bathroom was observed to be free and clear of hazardous items. The bathroom was observed to have working toilet, sink, and an ample supply of towels and soap accessible for the children to use. Lower cabinets were observed to be locked via a child proof latch, on the cabinet front door. The bathroom was clean, sanitized and in good repair. The The family room has a fireplace that is properly screened with glass panel doors. The fireplace is inaccessible to children. All electrical outlets were covered in the home. There is a first aid kit on premises. LPA observed that licensee has a fire extinguisher 2A10BC which meets fire marshal standards. Smoke detector was tested and is in operational condition. Licensee has at least one working carbon monoxide detector in the home. Licensee has a Pediatric CPR & First Aid is valid until: 6/15/2022 as indicated on the certificate and the licensee's assistant has a Pediatric CPR and First Aid until 04/14/2021. Licensee has the required immunization's : Measles , pertussis and flu. Per licensee, disaster/fire drills are conducted every six months. LPA observed disaster/fire drill log as current. The garage was inspected during this inspection and was observed to be lock. The garage is used for storage only; no child care activities are conducted in the garage. Per licensee there are no weapons or firearms on the premise. There is a pool on premises at the facility. All off limits area include: All bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs , and the garage. The backyard was inspected, the backyard is dirt landscaping surrounded brick fencing. This facility has an in ground pool that is located on the backyard. The pool is surrounded by a wrought iron fencing at least 5 feet in height. There are self-latching devices located no more than six inches from the top of the gates. The gates swings away from the pool, and close without assistance. T Licensee is not providing any medical services to children. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. The following information regarding ADA was provided: US Department of Justice (USDOJ) toll-free ADA Information Line at (800) 514-0301 (voice)/ (800) 514-0383 (TTY) and link to publication: Commonly Asked Questions about Child Care Centers and the ADA, available at: http://www.ada.gov/childqanda.htm The following was discussed: Individuals who are 18 years of age or older living in the home must be fingerprint cleared prior to being in the home. Individuals within one month of their 18 th birthday must be fingerprinted immediately or at least within 30 days or less of turning 18. LPA discussed licensing capacity requirements. Licensee understands the ratio and capacity requirements. Licensee understands that any cleared adult left alone caring for children must have a background clearance check and current Pediatric 1st Aid and CPR certificates. Licensee advised that children residing in the home under the age of 10 count towards capacity/ratio. If licensee is operating a large family child day care and no assistant provider is present at a Large Family Child Care Home, then the licensee shall comply with the capacity requirements for a Small Family Child Care Home. Therefore, the large family childcare reverts to small capacity requirements of (8) children. A copy of this report was discussed and read to licensee. Fire Clearance was granted by fire inspector for a Large Family Child Care Home. Capacity increase to 14 children has been approved effective 04/13/21. A copy of this report was discussed and read to the licensee. This report will be sent electronically with delivery confirmation in lieu of signature.
