What the inspector wrote
On 10/15/2025, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Justeene Tamayo met with Licensee Maria Garcia, who guided analyst on a tour of the facility for the One Year Required inspection. This is a two story, 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home with kitchen/dining, family room, living room, laundry room and garage. There is an in ground swimming pool on the premises. Upon arrival LPA observed 2 infants, 3 school age, and 5 preschool children in care, along with assistant #1 and licensee.
Family members residing in the home include 3 adults (licensee, licensee's daughter, and licensee's adult son) and no minor children. Updated Application received during today's visit. Facility operation are Monday-Friday 6AM-5:30PM hours a day. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed.
Physical Plant

Main care is provided in the living room. Children use the bathroom in hallway on the right. Children have access to the living room and dining room area. Off limit areas include all bedrooms, bathrooms #2 and #3 (upstairs),
laundry room(upstairs with safety gate), and garage. LPA observed the main care area to be fully barricaded by a safety gate. The home was inspected inside and out for safety, clean and orderly, comfort, cleanliness, telephone service, heating and ventilation, inaccessibility to poisons, detergents/cleaning compounds
(under kitchen sink with safety latch), medicines (upper kitchen cabinet) and hazardous items (sharp
knives in
upper kitchen cabinet unreachable to children in care) that can pose a danger to children. LPA observed a fireplace in the the living room to be fully screened. Safe and age appropriate toys, play equipment and materials were observed.

Fire Extinguisher (2A10BC) are in operable condition. Per Licensee no one smokes in the home

Electrical outlets are inaccessible. LPA reminded licensee, no baby bouncers saucer chairs, or any recalled and or prohibited toys or sleep/ play equipment are allowed. There is a designated area for ill children as necessary in family room. Per Licensee there are no weapon/firearms in the home.
The facility sketch is complete and current, there is working telephone (cell).
Fire/Disaster Drill is complete and maintained current. Last Fire/Disaster Drill was completed on 06/13/2025.
Roster complete and maintained current.
Bathroom: Shower/tub are free of hazards (child care bathroom). LPA did not observe any hazardous items in the children's bathroom. Toilet and faucet are clean and operable.
Kitchen: Sharp utensils, open bottles or alcohol are inaccessible. If food is brought from the children\342\200\231s home, the container shall be labeled with the child\342\200\231s name and properly stored or refrigerated. The home has a clean and fully stocked refrigerator/freezer. Cleaning supplies are under the kitchen sink with a safety latch. Licensee currently has a food program. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are provided. Naps are provided on mats in the living room and family room.
Outdoor: The backyard is completely fenced (with block cement). LPA observed appropriate toys and play equipment. The outdoor play area is conducted on the left side of the home which is enclosed by a a 5 feet wrought iron fence and one property wall. There is an outdoor air-conditoner in the outdoor play area that has a mesh covering.
LPA observed an in ground swimming pool surrounded by 3 property walls, and the remainder of the in ground swimming pool is barricaded by a black wrought iron fence. There are two self-latches, one on the left side.
Swimming pool fencing measures at 5 feet in height. The wrought iron fencing does not obscure the pool from view. The opening of the mesh gate swings away from the pool, self-close and has a self-latching device located no more than six inches from the top of the gate. There were no climbing aids observed near the pool area. Licensee shall ensure the wrought iron fencing is locked and closed at all times. Licensee has also followed new swimming pool regulations that came into effect on 01/01/25: LPA observed a BCONE
ASTM International Standard F2208 that alerts the licensee , as well as a 12 foot fixed rescue pole hung on the back side of the cement wall, and a life ring measuring at 24 inches in diameter approved by U.S. Coastal Guard. LPA reminded licensee she will need to document a daily swimming pool log and shall be maintained current. Licensee agrees that the swimming pool fencing will remain in place whenever licensed care is provided, and so long as the mesh fence makes the swimming pool inaccessible to children as determined by licensing staff.
Per licensee, there is one dog on the premises.
Advisory/Other: First Aid kit was observed with supplies readily available. CPR/First Aid expires on 07/13/2026. Mandated Reporter expired on 09/29/2024.
Licensee and assistant #1 will retake their mandated reporter training and send proof of completion to LPA Tamayo no later than 10/22/2025. Technical Violation has been given. There are no window cords accessible to children.
Licensee Garcia was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee Garcia and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at

as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at

and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
A notice of site visit was given to licensee and must remain posted for 30 days.
Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.
No deficiencies have been given, however one Technical Violation was given during today's inspection.
Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee Maria Garcia, along with her appeal rights and Notice of Site Visit.
