What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Maddox met with Jessica Rosales, Director today for the purpose of conducting an Annual Inspection. LPA toured and inspected all areas according to the facility sketch. Center has 3 classrooms, Room A (as soon as you enter center) is designated for 4 and 5 year olds, Room B (middle) designated for 3 and 4 year old; Room C located in the rear of the center (also where children eat their lunch) is designated for 2 and young 3's. There is 1 bathroom in Room C and another bathroom in the hallway area by Room A, each bathroom has 1 toilet and 1 sink with a separate staff bathroom. The Office is designated at entrance. Present today in 25 children and 3 staff persons. This is a full-day program which operates from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday Through Friday. **LPA observed age appropriate furniture, equipment, toys and materials. Telephone service was verified as well as adequate heating, lighting, and ventilation. Children's belongings will be kept in cubbies along the wall as you enter classrooms. Drinking water is available at entrance (children bring own water bottle and are labelled). **Food preparation area/Room C was inspected for safety, cleanliness, proper equipment & protection against contamination and storage. Storage areas were inspected for inaccessibility of toxins and cleaning compounds to children in care (stored in staff restroom). Children bring their own lunches and snacks, extra snacks are available. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. The following information regarding ADA was provided: US Department of Justice (USDOJ) toll-free ADA Information Line at (800) 514-0301 (voice)/ (800) 514-0383 (TTY) and link to publication: Commonly Asked Questions about Child Care Centers and the ADA, available at: http://www.ada.gov/childqanda.htm . - Director is Designated to perform any IMS if needed. **Parent Board contained all documents that are required to be posted according to Title 22 Regulations. There is at least 1 staff present with current CPR and First Aid training (expire 3/28/23). Staff has taken required Mandated Reporter training. **Center uses for sign in and out, staff have the ability to produce a hard copy if needed. There is a fully stocked first aid kit available and fully charged fire extinguisher. Fire Drill/Earthquake log located in binder and is current (last drill 8-22). **Children are inspected for illnesses as they arrive including taking temperatures. A review of medication policy indicated that no medication is administered at the center. **The children's bathroom is located the main building and contains 3 toilets and 3 sinks (one toilet and one sink in each bathroom). The Preschool aged children are escorted to the bathroom by staff. The staff rest-room is located next to Room A area and also designated as an isolation bathroom. LPA observed the bathrooms to be clean and sanitary, with soap, toilet paper and paper towels readily available. Toilets and sinks are functioning properly and age appropriate. **The children nap at this center. Linens and bedding are stored in each child's cubby, no linen comes into contact with other children's napping linens. *Director states carpets are vacuumed daily, shampooed twice a month or as needed. Trash cans/storage containers for solid waste had tight-fitting covers that are kept on, and in good repair. **Outdoor play area is completely fenced in, play toys were inspected for health, safety, good condition and age appropriateness (Center currently is not utilizing the outside play area). Center has cement, dirt, and adequate shade available (trees, Director/Owner is in process of patio cover) . The area was observed to be free of debris. Outside Drinking water is available in the form water pitchers, there are no bodies of water on the campus. There is one shed that is locked. An exit Interview was conducted, a copy of this Report and a Notice of Site visit was provided
