their child has sustained injuries and were notified and explained the procedure in how the facility notifies them about the injuries. Two parents stated their child has not sustained injuries while in care. Three parents stated their child is still enrolled at Guidepost and one parent stated their child is no longer enrolled due to the cost of tuition but was really happy there. All staff stated zoning is put in place to ensure there is active and adequate supervision. It was also stated that by counting the children and those that need extra supervision, a teacher stays closer to the child. All staff stated to discipline a child or children there is redirecting and talking to them directly. Staff stated how they handle challenging behaviors, they make eye contact, gentle approach, talk to them and regulate emotions. All staff explained the incident reporting. Ouch and accident reports are written and given to parents. All staff stated they have not handled a child or children in a rough manner or witness staff handle a child or children in a rough manner or speak to them inappropriately. All staff described the scissors that are accessible to children, about 4 inches metal rounded tip scissors. All staff explained the incidents where a child or children have dropped small bowls, plates and cups that are breakable, and the child or children have not sustained injuries related to the incident. LPA observed on the parent handbook page 16 Montessori Material and School Property section, provides information about materials and classroom equipment are provided at school for children to use. Occasionally, a child may break or damage an item. Page 9 provides information about using an open-top small glass (the size of a shot glass) will inspire careful handling and help your child to understand cause and effect and babies as young as 7 months can learn to drink confidently from a tiny glass. Page 17 explains health and safety. As children learn new ways to move their bodies, bumps, bruises, and scrapes are normal and to be expected at school, on the playground, and at home. If a more serious injury occurs, parents will receive a call from the school advising you of the situation and the action taken by our staff. By enrolling your child with us, you acknowledge these and other risks to your child connected with attending school. During the inspection, LPA observed child size scissors with round tip, flower arranging area, LPA observed small glass vases, and small porcelain bowls. LPA observations, interviews conducted, and documentation reviewed did not support nor confirm the above allegations/allegation. This agency has investigated the complaint. At this time, it is determined that although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation(s) did or did not occur, therefore at this time the above allegation is unsubstantiated. No deficiency given at this time. Exit interview was conducted with director Thalia Valdavinos. The director was provided a copy of the appeal rights (LIC 9058) and their signature on this form acknowledges receipt of these forms. The Notice of Site Visit (LIC 9213) – must remain posted for 30 days during the hours of operation after each site visit made by a licensing representative. Failure to maintain posting as required will result in a civil penalty of $100.00.
