What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst(s) Maddox and Alemoh met with Thalia Valdovinos, Director today for the purpose of conducting a case management inspection. This Case Management inspection is conducted at the request of Licensee to increase the capacity from 72 to 96. Center is taking 1 classroom back from the Infant/Toddler component which will give a total of 4 classrooms for Preschool children and 4 classrooms for Infant/Toddlers. During inspection LPA observed 70 children and 9 staff providing care and supervision. Days and Hours of Operation are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. LPA’s toured the classroom (Room #4) and observed age-appropriate toys, play equipment, and materials. The isolation area is located in a room by the main lobby next to the Director’s office. Emergency Drills are conducted every sixth month last drill was conducted and documented on 09/2023 on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. The fire extinguisher (2A10BC) is reading in green and meets the Fire Marshal codes and standards (last serviced 04/2023). The outdoor play area was inspected and observed to be free of hazards, loose, or sharp objects. Equipment was inspected for safety, cushioning material, good repair and age appropriateness. There is a storage shed (maintained locked) and utilized for equipment storage and emergency supplies. Climbing structures other play equipment were found to be adequately with resilient cushioning material underneath and around the perimeter (wood chips). Children are provided with filtered water in children’s individual water bottles brought from home for outdoor play. There is adequate shade area for rest. The playground is well fenced all around, and no bodies of water observed in the outdoor play area. Facility provides sheets and are washed once or twice a week utilizing the in-house laundry room. Age appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability and good repair. Toilets flush properly; toilet and sinks are reachable by the children. Each restroom has adequate toilet paper, hand soap and paper towels available. Restrooms are cleaned, restocked of toiletries and sanitized by facility daily. Licensee had all the required posted documents: Facility License, Notice of Parent's Rights Poster, Emergency Disaster Plan, and Earthquake Preparedness Checklist. First Aid supplies, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide and fire extinguishers were observed and in operable condition according to fire marshal standards. Fire clearance has been received for the requested capacity of 96 PS children, a waiver is needed for the outside play yard which can accommodate 70 children. Exit interview conducted, a copy of this report was left at the facility with the Director.
