What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Cynthia Reyes conducted an unannounced site inspection to investigate a concern brought to the LPAs attention. This inspection is to ensure the health and safety standards as required by the regulations governing child care centers are met. LPA met with Margie Zarate - Director LPA took a tour of the facility inside and out and names of staff and census of children who were in are were taken at time of arrival. Interviews were conducted on this date regarding concerns brought to the departments attention that staff are on there personal phones texting, talking and face timing and not supervising children. It was also mentioned that the staff are also yelling at children. Per interviews with staff and children It was stated that no staff use there personal cell phones while in the class room or outside while then children are playing. It was stated that the staff may look at there cell phone to check the time. Walkie talkies are used in the class room or while outside to communicate to other staff. Staff that are drivers may use ear buds while out on bus runs as a form of communication with the school but that is the only use of personal cell phones. LPA conducted consultation and made the Director Margie a wear of the issue that were brought up to the department attention and Margie stated she will be having a coaching session with all staff regarding phone usage and yelling, violating a child personal rights. Margie states will send LPA a copy of the agenda and the staff sign in sheets who attended the coaching session. No citation is giving at this time. Consultation was given on this date. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Director Margie Zarate.
