What the inspector wrote
Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) R. Derraco conducted an unannounced annual inspection to the above facility on 09/23/25. LPA arrived at the facility at 12:10 PM and met with licensee, Veronica Behning, who guided analyst on a tour. Also present during this inspection was S2. Per Licensee, there are 7 children that are currently enrolled. There was 1 napping infant present upon arrival. Individuals who reside in the home wer noted and discussed. All adults present in the home have obtained a criminal record clearance or exemption prior to working, residing or volunteering in the licensed childcare home.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
This is a one story home-story home which consists of 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, kitchen, living room, family room, garage, front yard and backyard (fenced). The off limit areas include 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and front yard.
The main care are is located the living room. LPA observed a couch, coffee table, and two arm chairs. A tension gate was observed to separate the living room and the family room. A fire place with a mounted cover was observed in the living room making it inaccessible to children in care. Per licensee, the family room is currently not being used by children in care, however during rainy days or if additional space is needed for art projects, the family room becomes available. LPA observed a couch, a wall mounted television, a love
seat and a second tension gate leading towards bathroom 1. LPA observed the bathrooms to be clean with an operable sink faucet and toilet. The kitchen was observed to have locks on the cabinets beneath the counter. LPA observed a locked drawer to have kitchen knives and other pointy objects. Per licensee, cleaning supplies are kept locked beneath the kitchen sink. Licensee states that she provides meals for children in care. LPA advised licensee that children whom bring food from home must have their containers individually labeled and properly stored or refrigerated. Two high chair feeding tables were observed in the kitchen area. Per licensee, a child sized table and chairs are brought out during meal time and used to serve children in care. Older children use the counter space to take meals. LPA observed that part of the garage has been converted into a room that is used as activity space for the day care. Licensee understands that children cannot take meals and naps in the activity space. LPA observed age appropriate toys, children's reading material, and children's art supplies in the activity space. The out door play area is located in the backyard. LPA observed perimeter fencing, outdoor play equipment, a shade with misters, patio furniture, wall mounted television, and a storage shed. Tension gates were observed in the outdoor play area to separate the off-limits section leading towards the storage shed. Per licensee, isolation area for children showing signs of illness will be located in the living room while they await parent pick up. LPA did not observe the following items during the inspection: Infant Walkers, Johnny Jumpers, Saucer Chairs. Emergency Disaster Plan, Parent\342\200\231s Rights Poster and the Facility License were observed to be posted on the wall at the entrance.
All areas identified on the facility sketch that are accessible for children to use were inspected for safety,
comfort, and cleanliness. There is a cellphone that is used and the cellphone stays at the facility during operation hours. Per Licensee, the home is equipped with heating and air conditioning units.
The licensee understands that storage areas for poisons must be locked, not just made inaccessible. The valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged and was serviced on 09/01/25, as indicated on service tag. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were tested and are operable. LPA did not observe any objects that can pose a danger to children in care. No bodies of water were observed in the back yard play area. LPA states that there are no firearms stored in the home. Smoking is prohibited in a licensed Family Child Care Home. Per Licensee, no one smokes in the home.
LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at

as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at

and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
The licensee and other personnel have completed training on preventive health practices including Pediatric First Aid and CPR. The licensee's Pediatric First Aid and CPR expires on 07/2027.
LPA observed that the Licensee and assistant do have proof of the Mandated Reporter AB 1207 compliant Child Care Training Certificate on file. File review was observed to have proper mandated immunization records. Child's record was reviewed, including emergency information and was observed to be complete. A current children\342\200\231s roster was available for review.

Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.
During the exit interview, the licensee, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS.

At this time, the licensee is in compliance with California Code of Regulations Title 22. No deficiencies cited.
