What the inspector wrote

On 12/05/2023, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA)s Mary Silva and Stephanie Li conducted an unannounced case management inspection for an Action Level Exceedance (ALE) detected in a water fixture in the facility. LPA\342\200\231s met with facility director, Dr. Haleema Shaikley, during the visit. No children were present in the facility. Analyst reviewed new Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, which requires the testing of water for lead in Child Care Centers (CCCs). Per AB 2370, all CCCs that are located in buildings constructed before January 1, 2010, must have their water tested and post the results by January 1, 2023, and every 5 years after the date of the first testing. Facility provided facility sketch LIC999 to LPA\342\200\231s on 12/5/2023 and required forms LIC 9276 and LIC9275 will be submitted at a later time. On 11/17/2023, the Department received notification from the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB), Division of Drinking Water (DDW). The SWRCB report indicated the facility was inspected and samples were collected on 09/30/2023. Faucets and drinking fountain reported with 5.5 ppb or greater lead exceedance levels were as follows: C \342\200\223 Sink Faucet In Facility Preschool Restroom (7.300 UG/L) \342\200\223 Faucet currently not in use Director stated that the facility will remediate the outlet in the restroom and retest for lead. LPA\342\200\231s observed an \342\200\234out of order/do not use\342\200\235 sign in the faucet in the restroom. There are no children in attendance due to construction of the facility. Deficiencies that are being cited need to be cleared to protect the children\342\200\231s health and safety. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. An exit interview was conducted, a copy of the report, PIN 21-21-CCP and appeal rights was provided to Director,Dr. Haleema Shaikley. Page 2 of 2
