What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Nolan Tcheng conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection to follow up on an infectious disease outbreak that was reported to the Department on 06/09/2025. Upon arrival at 9:50am, LPA met with Education Supervisor Marie Cruz, to whom the purpose of the inspection was explained. A tour of the facility was provided. There were children present during the time of the inspection. Census was taken. There were 9 children with 12 staff members present. No children were present in Room 2 and Room 3. As of 06/19/2025, there are 30 confirmed cases of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease at the facility. The confirmed cases are currently a part of both Room 2 and 3 of the license. The first confirmed case was 06/09/2025 and the most recent confirmed case was 06/18/2025. Per Education Supervisor, the facility has had maintenance come and do deep cleaning of the facility after hours for Room 2 on 6/12/2025, and Room 3 on 06/13/2025.. Staff clean the cots, cubbies, and child care areas daily. Emergency cleaning supplies have been ordered for the facility to use and sanitize the facility. They spray down the facility after hours and conducted health checks with the children every day when they arrive and throughout the operation hours. Staff have a checklist to sanitize all play ground areas after each use. Sandbox is currently off limits for use and all water play is avoided. Staff were observed sanitizing in Room 2 and 3 during the inspection. The facility has been visited by a Public Health Nurse (PHN) from Department of Public Health for Los Angeles County on 06/12/2025. They reviewed the affected child care areas and recommended cleaning opportunities for the facility that they are currently conducting as well as approved of the cleaning practices being utilized. Parent letters regarding the outbreaks have been provided to the families of the affected classrooms. REPORT CONTINUES PAGE 1 of 2 Based on the information provided and the observations made during today's inspection. The facility is following through with proper cleaning practices and maintaining daily health checks with children when they come to the facility. Public Health has relayed their recommendations for the facility to continue operation. They are continuing contact with Dept of Public Health and Licensing for any additional cases. At this time, no deficiencies are being cited to the facility. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
