What the inspector wrote

On 08/15/2024 at 1:15 pm, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Crystal Green and Elka Chavez conducted an announced Case Management inspection for an increase in the licensed capacity. LPA met with Facility Representative Maricruz Flores. This facility is currently licensed to serve (30) school age children from ages Kindergarten and above in (1) classroom: School- Age Room 1. The Licensee, KinderCare Education LLC., has requested to increase their overall licensed capacity to (44) children from ages Tk and above by adding (1) additional classroom: School- Age Room 2. There is also an Infant Program (198006335) and a Preschool Program (198004986) located on the same premises that was observed to be operating separately both indoor and outdoors. The hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 6:15 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Present during today’s inspection were 10 children with 1 staff. Appropriate ratios and supervision were observed. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPA Green informed Maricruz Flores that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities. LPAs continued to tour the designated school age areas and measured the new indoor activity space. The total new indoor activity space measured is 634.87 square footage, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity increase. LPAs observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cots, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via filter water jugs. LPA observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. Fire clearance was granted on 7/16/2024. Report Continues 1 of 2 LPA observed a total of 3 sinks, 3 toilets, and 1 urinal that will be available for the school age children use. These are sufficient to accommodate the requested overall capacity of children. The facility currently has (4) fully fenced playground areas: (1) designated as the Infant Play Yard, (1) Preschool Play Yard, and (2) designated as the School Age Yard. Fencing is made of wrought iron, which was observed to be at least four feet high. LPA did not obtain measurements for existing licensed outdoor activity space. The school- age play yard can accommodate the requested capacity increase. Shade is provided via a fixed shade structure. There are sufficient outdoor age-appropriate toys and play equipment available on the playground. Drinking water is available via filtered water jugs and children’s personal water bottles. LPA observed all hazardous items on the playground to be inaccessible to children. The facility representative was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing. No corrections are needed. Upon a final file review, a license for 44 children serving ages TK and above in classrooms: School Age Room 1 and 2 will be granted. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Facility Representative, Maricruz Flores. A notice of site visit was given to Facility Representative Maricruz Flores, and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days. End Page 2 of 2
