What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Ashley Calderon conducted an Unannounced Required \342\200\223 3 Year inspection to the above facility. LPA was greeted and allowed entry by Licensee, Latrice Williams. LPA disclosed the purpose of today's visit. LPA was guided on a tour of the facility alongside L.Williams. Adults in the home were discussed and all have criminal record clearance, there were 2 staff assistants present upon arrival and 6 children. The children's roster LIC9040 was reviewed and is current. Postings to post in a prominent area were observed during today's inspection by the facility entrance. LPA provided Earthquake Prepardness form to post. Per Licensee hours of operation are M-F 7am-6pm. Licensee is licensed for a Large Family Day Care with a capacity of 14. Per Licensee, does not provide overnight care, focuses on toddler/preschool, after-school children. No infants are enrolled. This is a single story home which consists of three bedrooms (includes an office) and two bathrooms, Kitchen, Living Room, Den, and detached garage with a storage. Per Facility Sketch, areas off limits to children and parents include Bedroom #1 (licensees bedroom) and detached garage/storage. Children use: the den, living room, kitchen, bedroom #1 -napping room and the bedroom #2- office space is on limits if needed. LPA observed that there is a barrier blocking doorways completely making off limit area inaccessible via a locked door. Garage uses an remote to open and close, kept locked as it is used for storage and poisons (Raid) are stored in this area. All areas identified on the facility sketch as accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating (central) for the safety of the children. There is a working telephone maintained in the home. Facility tested the carbon monoxide detector and found operable, there is a security system with 2 carbon monoxide detectors that is interconnected with Company ADT. LPA observed Living Room and Den- child appropriate toys, materials and equipment were observed with free of loose and sharp parts available for children. There is a fireplace in Living Room that is blocked by a heavy toy shelf that is inaccessible to the children in care. LPA observed operable toilet and sink, adequate hand washing and toileting supplies, general area safety and sanitation, and observed all drawers and cabinets to be free of hazards at time of inspection. Detergents were observed and stored under the kitchen sink with a baby safety latch in place. There is a cleaning compounds/ medications, and other items which can pose a danger in a high to reach cabinet for the children present, LPA gave consultation to assess this arrangement when after-school children are present. Knives are placed in a high to reach area by the kitchen sink. The Licensee was advised that inaccessibility of hazards must be constantly reassessed depending on the children in care. Per licensee, they provide food for children in care. LPA reminded Licensee children who bring food from home, to appropriately store and refrigerator and labeled with children's names. LPA observed the backyard for outdoor play, which LPA observed to be accessible through backdoor in Living Room. No bodies of water observed on premises. LPA observed the valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged with service tag dated 10/01/2025. Isolation area for sick children waiting to be picked up; is any room that is not occupied by the non-sick children. During visit LPA Calderon reviewed Drill log, last conducted on 1/22/2026. No play yards or cribs observed, Licensee stated does not focus on infants, LPA did provide information incase. At 11:55am additional staff assistant #3 came to the facility and is fingerprinted cleared. At 12pm 1 child left, making census 5 . At 12:15pm another child arrived making census back to 6. LPA reviewed children and staff files. LPA Calderon reviewed 5 children files, 2 (twin children) out of 5 files reviewed had LIC955A Parent Right form but missing signature of parents, consultation was given. Files were reviewed; Licensee file was reviewed Red Cross Pediatric 1st / cpr expires 7/26/26 and Mandated Reporter 7/21/27 for staff 2 assistants all are qualified assistants with appropriate documentation's. LPA Calderon reminded Licensee must be present 80% of the hours of operations with 20% of temporary absent. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for and removing any recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP . When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. During the exit interview, the Licensee Latrice Williams , confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS.
