Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

Page 2 RP states she knows she can not retract this complaint and that she should have mention it a long time ago when it happened and that the school is doing a great job with handling diaper changes and documenting since that incident had happened a while back. RP states it was on her that she never mentioned it and she had just kept an eye on the diapering. The school has a good system in place where the parent signs in and out their child and a section to mark weather the child is wet, dirty or dry at that time. Based on interviews, declarations, records reviewed and received from this facility the above allegation is deemed UNSUBSTANTIATED. Although the allegations may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of the evidence to prove that the alleged violations occurred. An exit interview was conducted, and a copy of this report was provided to Aysegul Inceoglu, Director Page 2 Per staff interviews it was stated that the child was having a hard time crying and throwing herself to the ground and didn't want to let her mom go and staff tried to distract the child, however they didn't want to hurt the child as she was throwing herself to the ground. Staff had advised the parent to keep her child for the day, that it might be best to take the child home as she is having a hard time right now and she will also give the teacher's a hard time. LPA received and reviewed then schools suspension and expulsion policy and it states, except in specific circumstances listed below, Montessori Academy of West Covina School shall not: 1) Suspend a child due to a child's behavior. 2) Encourage, persuade, or require a child's parents or legal guardian to prematurely pick up a child due to a child's behavior before the program day ends. Even throw the word suspension was not used, the staff did advised the parent and said it might be best to take the child home. The suspension policy also states suspension will be used as a last resort in extraordinary circumstances when there us serious safety threat that cannot be reduced or eliminated without removal of the child. Based on LPA interviews conducted and documents reviewed and received, the preponderance of evidence standard has been meet, therefore the above allegation is found to be SUBSTANTIATED at this time.
