What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elka Chavez conducted an unannounced case management inspection to the above facility on 06/01/23 at 11:30 AM. LPA met with Leticia Flores, Licensee. The purpose of this inspection is due to licensee’s request to change accessible areas to off-limit areas to children in care. There were 6 children present upon arrival. Facility is currently licensed for a large family childcare. A fire clearance was granted on 4/28/23 for the rumpus room. This is a single-story home which consists of three bedrooms, two bathrooms, rumpus room (main daycare room), living room, kitchen, dining room and backyard (fenced). Main care will be conducted out of the rumpus room located towards the rear of the home and the children will use the bathroom in the rumpus room. Areas off limits to children and parents include, three bedrooms, bathroom next to the bedroom hallway, living room, kitchen and dining room. LPA observed age-appropriate toys and material for children to play with in the rumpus room. LPA observed bookshelves and storage cabinets are bolted to the wall in the rumpus room. LPA observed a child safety gate located in front of the steps leading to the off-limit side bedroom. LPA observed the door is kept locked with a key. LPA observed detergents and cleaning compounds are stored in the off-limits garage. LPA observed central air and heat for ventilation. LPA also observed a wall A/C unit that can also be used just for the rumpus room. Per Licensee there are no firearms or weapons stored in the home. The bathroom that children use is in the rumpus room. Bathroom was observed to be safe and sanitary. Infants have required sleeping equipment and bedding. Licensee is aware of Safe Sleep regulation and is implementing procedures. Older children have matts to sleep on. Parents bring bedding and it is sent home to be wash weekly. All required posted documentation was observed in the rumpus room, available to parents. LPA observed the rumpus room is accessible through the backyard. Parents and children will enter through the side gate of the backyard. Fire extinguisher was last serviced in May 2023. Smoke and carbon monoxide detector were tested and are operable in the rumpus room. Currently, children are using the backyard for outdoor play. The outdoor play area was observed to be fenced. LPA observed that the outdoor yard has toys and other materials for children to play with. LPA did not observe any objects that could be hazardous to children in care. There are no pools or spas, or other bodies of water. No deficiencies will be cited today 6/01/23. The Notice of Site Visit (LIC 9213) – must remain posted for 30 days during the hours of operation after each site visit by a licensing representative. Exit interview was conducted with Leticia Flores, Licensee. Appeal Rights provided.
