What the inspector wrote
On August 22, 2024, at 3:45PM Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) A. Carter and T. Tran conducted an Unannounced Required Annual Inspection and met with Licensee, Maria Guerrero. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry unto the facility by the licensee.
There are 7 adults living in the home. All adults in the home were found to have criminal record clearance. There were eight (8) day care children present during today\342\200\231s inspection. Licensee states that there are currently eleven (11) children enrolled. The children's roster was reviewed and is current. Licensee reports that the facility\342\200\231s hours of operation are Monday thru Friday from 6:30AM - 6:00PM.

The Disaster Drill log was current with the last drill conducted on May 14, 2024.
The valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged with last service date of: 5/2024. LPAs observed smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to be in operable condition. Per Licensee, First Aid kit is kept in the bathroom cabinet under the sink, observed by LPAs.
This is a single story home which consists of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living room and family room. LPA observed a fireplace in the maincare area per licensee it is not operable. Childcare is mainly conducted in the family room. Isolation area for sick children waiting to be picked up is in the living room area closest to the door, supervised and away from the other children

LPAs observed age appropriate toys and other age-appropriate material available such as blocks, leggos, baby dolls, and cars. LPAs observed age appropriate toys, free of loose and sharp parts.
Children in care will have access to kitchen, both bathrooms, living room and family room. Per licensee, areas off limits to children and parents include all bedrooms. Per licensee, off limit areas are locked during operating hours making it inaccessible to children in care. Per licensee she provides breakfast, lunch, and snacks for children in care. All areas identified on the facility sketch as accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for the safety of the children. The home maintains telephone service via Landline. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children are inaccessible.
Per licensee, the children will have access to backyard area.
LPAs observed age appropriate toys. LPAs observed backyard has grass and adequate perimeter fencing through-out the yard and all trees, shrubs, and plants are maintained.

records were reviewed for approved Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification, LIC-501: Personnel Record, LIC 508-Criminal Record Statement, LIC 9052- Employee Rights, Proof of immunizations against measles, pertussis and influenza or influenza declination, TB clearance or risk assessment, LIC 9108- Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse and current Mandated Reporter Training Certificate.

LPAs observed pets to be a house cat and a bird in the backyard inside a cage at time of inspection. Per Licensee, there are no weapons, or firearms in the home and there are no bodies of water around the premises. Per licensee, there are no bodies of water. LPA did not observe any bodies of water around the premises at time of inspection.

Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
LPAs discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee [or facility representative] and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at

as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee [or facility representative] of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at

and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.
During the exit interview, the licensee Maria Guerrero, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPAs completed the RSO profile in FAS.
A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
