What the inspector wrote
Licensing Program Analyst (LPA)Katrina Chicote conducted an Unannounced Required \342\200\223 1 Year inspection to the above facility on
08/30/2022
at 1:30 PM. Upon arrival, LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and met with Licensee,
Ana Velasquez,
who guided the LPA on a tour of the facility. Adults in the home were discussed. There were no
day care children present during today\342\200\231s inspection. Licensee states that there are currently

children enrolled. The children's roster was reviewed and is current. Per Licensee, the facility\342\200\231s hours of operation are
24 hours, 7 days a week
. Licensee understands that she cannot provide care for a single child longer than 23 hours. Emergency Disaster Plan and Parents\342\200\231 Rights were observed at the time of inspection and license observed. LPA notified Licensee that license must also be posted in prominent place. Disaster drill log was also available during today\342\200\231s inspection, last disaster drill conducted on
06/2021
. Licensee states she will have all her children conduct a drill today when children arrive.
This is a
single story
home which consists of
two
bedrooms and
one
bathroom, kitchen, living room, and dining room. Areas used by the children include the Living Room (located upon entry), Bathroom 1 (located to the right of the Living Room), Bedroom 1 (located next to Bathroom 1), Dining Room (located to the rear of the home), and Kitchen (located next to Dining Room). Per Licensee, areas off limits to children and parents include
Bedroom 2 (located next to Bedroom 1). Per Licensee, off limit areas are locked during operating hours.
All areas identified on the facility sketch as accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for the safety of the children. LPA observed a wall heater that is barricaded making it off limits to children in care and fans all through out the home. There is a working telephone maintained in the home. Upon entry of the home, LPA observed two pack n plays available for infant sleep and a sectional couch in Living Room. At 1:35 PM, LPA observed Bedroom 1 to have soft play mats and shelf with age appropriate toys, free of loose and sharp parts available for children in care. At 1:38 PM, LPA observed Bathroom to have general sanitation, operable toilet and sink, adequate hand washing and toileting supplies available. At 1:40 PM, LPA observed Dining Room to have oval dining table with six

chairs. Licensee states she provides food for children in care and Dining Room is used for eating. At 1:41 PM, LPA observed Kitchen with counter tops clear of hazards. LPA observed child safety locks on low cabinets and drawers, with some inoperable at time of inspection. LPA advised that operable child safety locks be installed. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children are inaccessible. The Licensee states medicines are stored in off limits Bedroom. LPA observed sharp knives stored hidden on high shelf under microwave making it off limits to children in care. LPA observed detergents and cleaning compounds stored in cabinets with operable child safety locks.
Per Licensee, the children will have access to backyard for out door play. LPA observed backyard is accessible through sliding glass door in Bedroom 1. At 1:50 PM, LPA observed a small dog in backyard. Small dog walked up to LPA and did not bark during entire inspection. LPA observed backyard has grass and adequate perimeter fencing through-out the yard.
LPA observed tricycles, plastic ride along toys, plastic play houses, and toddler plastic climbing structure with slide that were all well maintained at time of inspection. At 1:51 PM, LPA observed infant walker and saucer chair in backyard. LPA notified Licensee that these are prohibited items and cannot be used. LPA observed all trees, shrubs, and plants are maintained at time of inspection.
Per Licensee, there are no weapons, firearms in the home and there are no bodies of water around the premises. LPA observation did not see any bodies of water around the premises or any firearms/weapons in the home at time of inspection.
At 1:36 PM, LPA observed the valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged and purchased on 09/10/2021. At 1:52 PM, LPA observed smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are in operable condition. Per Licensee, First Aid kit is kept in the hallway closet, and
LPA observed First Aid kit and was inventoried for necessary supplies.
The Licensee has current Pediatric First Aid and CPR. Proof of immunization
against influenza
, pe
rtussis, and measles was readily available during today\342\200\231s inspection. The Licensee has also taken the Mandated Reporter Training

Incidental Medical Services (IMS)
Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee (or facility representative) was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
Rooms that are off-limits need to be made inaccessible during operating hours. NO smoking, NO infant walkers, NO Johnny jumpers, NO saucer chairs, NO incline sleepers and any other item that falls into that category are permitted in the facility. The Licensee was advised that inaccessibility of hazards must be constantly reassessed depending on the children in care.

of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at

and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
The facility was found in compliance per Title 22 regulations, there will be no deficiencies cited today, 08/30/2022.
A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.
