What the inspector wrote

On 05/19/26, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Kamile Martin and Diana Ortiz (Spanish Translation) conducted an unannounced annual inspection to the above facility. A risk assessment was conducted upon entry. LPA (s) met with Licensee Maria Barrientos who led LPA(s) on a tour of the facility. There was 1 child present. A current children’s roster was available for review. Licensee has 5 children enrolled. Present in the home during inspection was licensee and 1 child. A copy of the entrance checklist was provided licensee was updating the form. This is a single-family home which consists of 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room, backyard, , garage and front yard. The children use the bathroom in the hallway playroom upon entrance and back yard. All areas were inspected as noted in the facility sketch initially submitted. Per licensee children do not nap in the facility. Per licensee, areas off limits to children and parents include: 4-bedroom, 1 bathroom, front yard, kitchen, living room and garage. LPA(s) did not observe any hazards that can harm the children in care. The LPA(s) toured all areas used by children during this visit. Hours of operation are Monday- Sunday 23 hours a day. Licensee provides transportation. Licensee states she has 1 pet in the home. 3 adults live in the home. And she provides overnight care when needed children will sleep in the playroom. All areas identified on the facility sketch that are accessible for children to use were inspected for safety, comfort, and cleanliness. Per Licensee there are NO firearms in the home. Bodies of water were not observed at this facility. The following was observed and reviewed during this inspection. Cleaning compounds, and medications were observed to be inaccessible to children. Per licensee, there are no poisons kept in the home. The restroom that children use was observed to be safe and sanitary. There is telephone service via landline. The home is observed to be clean and orderly with central AC and heat. A fireplace was observed in the home but was barricaded by large play blocks. License provides Breakfast Lunch and Snack. Licensee is not on the meal program. There are toys available for children. There are first aid supplies available. Per Licensee the ill isolation area is in the main entrance area. LPA()s observed the following required posted documentation in the main entry of the playroom: Facility License, (LIC) 9148- Earthquake Preparedness form, Publication (PUB) 394- Notification of Parent Rights, and the Car Seat PUB and Emergency Disaster plan LIC610. Emergency Drill log was available during inspection. LPA(s) observed a fire extinguisher. LPA(s) advised licensee that fire extinguisher needs to be serviced every year last inspection date 5/27/25. Per licensee she will purchase a new extinguisher and send the receipt to LPA KMartin via email. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were tested and are operable. All homes shall conduct fire and disaster drills at least once every six months and document the date and time of each drill the last drill. The last drill was completed 4/25. Smoking is prohibited in a licensed Family Childcare Home. Per Licensee, no one smokes in the home. Currently, children are using the back yard for outdoor play time . The outdoor play area was observed to be fenced. LPA(s) observed the outdoor yard to have appropriate toys and other materials for children to use . LPA did not observe objects that can pose danger to children in the outdoor yard. Children and Adults’ records were reviewed. 1 Child file was reviewed and is in compliance. Per licensee she will send in the current CPR once she locates the current card. Licensee Mandated Reporter AB 1207certificate expires 9/26. During the end of inspection proof of CPR found, therefore, no deficiencies were cited for this visit. CPR expires 05/20/2027. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. LPA (s)discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA (s)also informed licensee of the importance of checking for and removing any recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. License was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Megan’s Law - During the exit interview, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey may be sent to the email address provided. Please complete the survey and share your inspection experience.
