What the inspector wrote

An unannounced Required \342\200\223 1 Year Inspection was conducted on 07/18/2022 at 9:20 AM by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Katrina Chicote. Facility is currently licensed for a capacity of 26 . Licensing staff met with Amber Johnson, Director . The program currently operates Monday thru Friday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. LPA was taken on a guided tour of the facility of both indoors and outdoors. Required postings were observed. LIC125 was provided and discussed. At the initial start of the site visit, there is a total census of fourteen children and a total census of three teachers present (S1, S2, S3). The facility is made up of four classroom s. The Activity Room, where LPA observed teachers and students upon arrival, "Angie's Room" used for 4-5 year olds, Toddler Room for 2-3 year olds, and the Art Room. Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. LPA observed child size tables and chairs, shelves filled with Art materials, Science toys, puzzles, and other age appropriate toys free of lose and sharp parts available for children. There were cubbies observed as storage for children's belongings. Mats/cots were inspected. Per Director, linens are provided by the facility and washed by the facility weekly. Availability of drinking water was reviewed. LPA observed drinking fountains in Art Room and large water jug in office. Director states children are able to have access to both. At 9:40 AM, LPA observed Bathroom used by the children for age appropriateness. Sinks and toilets were inspected for availability, good repair, water temperature, toilet paper, area safety and sanitation. LPA observed three toilets and three sinks available for children. LPA observed first aid kit is kept in Director's office . Carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors are present in the facility. Fire extinguishers have been serviced in 06/17/2021 . Hazardous items including poisonous cleaning compounds were stored inaccessible to children. At 9:47 AM, LPA observed bleach and other cleaning solutions stored in off limits Kitchen area with operable child safety lock at time of inspection. Report Continues - Page 1 of 3 Snack/lunch menus were reviewed. Per Director, food is not prepped on site but delivered to facility from next door. At 9:50 AM, LPA observed outdoor play area, which is accessible through sliding glass door in the back of facility. Outdoor equipment was inspected for safety, cushioning material, good repair and age-appropriateness. LPA observed play structure with stairs and plastic slide, small plastic tables and chairs, large but low climbing structure, swing set, plastic play house, bicycles, and sensory tables available for children in care. Required shade and fencing were inspected. LPA Chicote advised Director that the children need to be within the direct care and supervision, including visual supervision of the teacher(s) at all times. The children have access to drinking fountains during outside play. Play area was inspected for hazards and inaccessibility to bodies of water; no bodies of water or hazards observed. Teacher-child ratios were observed and staff names recorded. Care and supervision was evaluated to determine if the basic needs of children are met and appropriate. Sign-in and out sheets and procedures were reviewed. Personal Rights of children were observed by LPA. Staff and Children\342\200\231s Records were reviewed. Criminal Record Clearances were reviewed for adults. CPR card expires on 04/09/2022 for Director . Inspection of required forms made. Incidental Medical Services: This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. Report Continues - Page 2 of 3 The following were discussed with the Director: Rooms that are off-limits need to be made inaccessible during operating hours. Smoking is prohibited. Records for all children and staff must be maintained for three (3) years after separation from the facility. The Director was advised that inaccessibility of hazards must be constantly reassessed depending on the children in care. The fire extinguisher type 2A-10BC must be serviced annually or as often as necessary. Smoke and Carbon Monoxide detectors should be checked and batteries replaced as needed. Changes should be reported to the Department as soon as they occur such as construction, remodeling, telephone number changes and/or if you move from your location. LPA observed disaster drill log conducted on 06/25/2022. LPA advised Director that all adults 18 years of age and older providing Care & Supervision and/or have continuous presence in the facility shall adhere to a criminal background clearance with the Department of Justice, FBI and Child Abuse Index Check. LPA informed Director to log onto web site www.ccld.ca.gov to obtain forms and LIVESCAN application. The facility was found in compliance per Title 22 regulations, there will be no deficiencies cited today 07/18/2022. The Notice of Site Visit (LIC 9213) \342\200\223 must remain posted for 30 days during the hours of operation after each site inspection by a licensing representative. Failure to maintain posting as required will result in a civil penalty of $100.00. Exit interview was conducted and report was reviewed with the Licensee (or facility representative), Amber Johnson.
