What the inspector wrote

An unannounced Required \342\200\223 1 Year Inspection was conducted on 12/01/2022 at 12:10 PM by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Katrina Chicote. Facility is currently licensed for a capacity of 24 and have 38 enrolled in both AM/PM programs . Licensing staff met with Cynthia Patrice Webb, Teacher . The program currently operates two part time programs, AM program 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM and PM program from 11:45 AM to 2:45 PM, Monday thru Friday . Facility is made up of a single classroom, RM 2, located on Lindbergh Elementary School campus. LPA singularly toured facility both indoors and outdoors. Required postings were observed on Parent Board in classroom. At the initial start of the site visit, there were only staff present at facility due to facility being minimum day this week to accommodate for parent conferences. Beginning at 12:20 PM, furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. LPA observed child size tables and chairs well maintained and floor and carpets all well maintained and free of hazards at time of inspection. LPA observed learning stations for dramatic play, art, blocks area, and other manipulative toys available for children free of loose and sharp parts. LPA observed quiet play area available for children with soft seating and books available. There were cubbies observed as storage for children's belongings. Due to part time programs, facility does not offer a nap time. Per Teacher, children are provided water bottles for drinking water, LPA observed water bottles available at time of inspection. Age appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability, good repair, water temperature, toilet paper, area safety and sanitation. LPA observed two separate bathrooms available each with one toilet and two sinks available outside for children. A first aid kit is kept in area near bathroom and was inventoried for necessary supplies . At 12:30 PM, carbon monoxide detectors were observed operable and smoke detectors are present in the facility. Fire extinguishers have been serviced in 11/16/2022 . Hazardous items including poisonous cleaning compounds were stored inaccessible to children. Per Teacher, there are currently no children enrolled with medications. Report Continues - Page 1 of 2 Snack/lunch menus were reviewed and observed posted. Per Teacher, lunch is provided by nearby elementary school cafeteria and picked up by staff. Facility provides full lunch to both AM and PM programs. LPA observed trash cans used to discard food have tight fitting lids. Beginning at 12:35 PM, outdoor equipment was inspected for safety, cushioning material, good repair and age-appropriateness. LPA observed play structure with steps and slide available for children with cushioning material below to absorb fall all well maintained. LPA observed bicycles and other play equipment available in storage area in outdoor play yard. LPA observed grass area available for children in outdoor play area. Required shade and fencing were inspected. LPA advised staff that the children need to be within the direct care and supervision, including visual supervision of the teacher(s) at all times. LPA observed drinking fountains available in outdoor play area, per Teacher children are not using drinking fountains at this time and bringing water bottles out for drinking water. Play area was inspected for hazards and inaccessibility to bodies of water; no bodies of water observed. Beginning at 1:15 PM, staff records were reviewed. Staff present did have proof of the AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training certificate on file. LPA observed Pediatric First Aid/CPR expires on 02/13/2023 for S2. LPA did not review confidential staff files during the inspection due to the staff confidential files being stored at the administrative office. All staff and employees have obtained a criminal record clearance or criminal record exemption as a condition of employment with the Lynwood Unified School District. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. Failure to maintain posting as required will result in a civil penalty of $100.00. Exit interview was conducted and report was reviewed with the Facility Representative. Report Ends - Page 2 of 2
