What the inspector wrote

On 7/2/25 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Alicia Mooberry conducted an unannounced case management inspection to ensure the health & safety standards as required by regulations governing family child care homes are in place. LPA met with Licensee, Mirna Jaurequi. There were 8 children present and 2 qualified staff assisting with care. Staff #2 assists licensee with home care and childcare. During this visit LPA observed the facility operating within the capacity requirements of the license. Deficiency cited on 3/4/25 for overcapcaity violation was cleared during visit. LPA observed children playing in front yard and in the home supervised by staff. Per licensee, the children are supervised at all times while they are outside in the front yard and also in the backyard where in-ground pool is located. At 2:48pm LPA observed prescription and over the counter medications on counter by front door, posing a potential risk to the health and safety to children in care. Licensee removed them and placed in off limits bedroom. At 2:55pm LPA observed knives located inside kitchen counter drawer did not have a safety lock (kitchen is accessible to children in care, posing a potential risk to the health and safety of children in care. Two B deficiencies are cite during this inspection. Licensee was reminded to constantly assess the home to ensure there an no hazards to children in care. Exit interview was conducted with Licensee, Mirna Jaurequi. Appeal Rights were discussed and provided.
