Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) R. Derraco conducted an unannounced case management visit on 02/27/25 at 12:30 PM. LPA spoke with licensee, Maria Villamil, who guided analyst on a tour of the home. LPA observed 2 assistants, 1 resident, and 10 children in care. Individuals who reside in the home have been noted and discussed. The physical plant of the home was observed to be in compliance with California Code of Regulation, Title 22. The purpose of this visit is to follow up with an unusual incident that took place on 02/25/25. LPA conducted an interview of the licensee, took pictures, and obtained a roster. Licensee states that C3 awoke from nap time and wanted to play in the outdoor play area around 2:00 PM. Licensee explained that the family dog is kept in the backyard of the Additional Dwelling Unit (ADU) located on the same property. At the time of the incident, the pet dog made it's way into the outdoor play yard because the gate separating the two properties was left slightly open. Per licensee, the door in the kitchen that leads to the outdoor play yard was also slightly open. S3 and C1 were walking from the main care area to the kitchen door when the pet dog made it's way into the home briefly, barked and bit C1, and then ran back outside. Licensee states she was sitting at her desk when the incident took place, and immediately put the dog back behind the fence while S3 tended to C1. Per licensee, C1 did not cry after the incident. Licensee noted that C1 was taken to the emergency room on the same day for an unrelated health issue. Licensee states that she plans to add a lock to the latch of the wooden gate to ensure a similar incident does not occur in the future. During the incident, S2 was on a break and both S1 and S3 were in the same room wtih C1. Since the C1 was not completely left alone at any time during the incident, the licensee is in compliance with care and supervision under California Code of Regulation Title 22. The incident is observed to have only happened once due to a mistake of leaving a gate that separates the two properties partially open and the door leading to the Family Child Care Home to the outdoor play area partially opened. There will be no citations issued today in regards to this incident. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with licensee, Maria Villamil.
