What the inspector wrote

On June 23, 2025, at 1 pm Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Priscilla Ochoa conducted an announced case management inspection at the above facility. The purpose of this inspection is to ensure the home is deemed safe for daycare children as the home was affected by the Eaton fire. LPA was greeted by licensee, Alana Lewis who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. LPA did not observe any children in care during inspection. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. Family members residing in the home is 1 adult who has criminal record clearance. This is a single-story home that consists of 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, kitchen, living room, laundry room, front yard, backyard (fenced) and detached back building (playroom). Off limit areas include 2 bedrooms, laundry room and front yard. Licensee will provide LPA an updated facility sketch to reflect inaccessible areas. Areas accessible to children in care are the living room, 1 bathroom, back yard and detached back building (playroom). At 1:10 pm, licensee guided LPA on a tour of the areas that are accessible to the children in care. Upon entrance of the front door LPA inspected the living room area. In the living room area, LPA observe toys for children in care, as well as children\342\200\231s table and chairs. There is also a closet in the living area. Per licensee the closet will be made inaccessible to children in care by adding a child safety knob to the closet doorknob. LPA also observed a fireplace in the living room area, which is barricaded making it inaccessible to children in care. Per licensee the 2 bedrooms in the home will be inaccessible to children in care. Page 1 of 3 LPA did not observe the other bedroom be locked or made inaccessible. Per licensee, the facility will add a child safety knob to the bedroom doorknob, making it inaccessible to children in care. The bathroom was then inspected. LPA did not observe materials that can pose a danger to children in care. LPA observed napping equipment in the form of cots in the bedroom next to the living room. Napping equipment was observed to be clean and orderly. Per licensee, bedding will be washed at the facility weekly. The kitchen was then inspected and observed to be orderly. LPA observed kitchen knifes to be stored in a high cabinet making them inaccessible to children in care. LPA also observed the kitchen drawers to have tab latches in the drawers making them inaccessible to children in care. Licensee then guided LPA to the back yard, where LPA did not observe any toys for children in care. Per licensee, the left side of the backyard will be renovated, and artificial grass will be installed. LPA observed the left side of the backyard to have dirt. LPA did not observe any hazards in the backyard. Per licensee, children will be taken to Loma Alta Public Park for outside time while the artificial grass is installed. LPA also observed the detached back building on the property identified as a playroom. LPA observed a crib, and additional toys for children in care. LPA also observed an additional closet in the playroom. Per licensee the closet will be made inaccessible to children in care by adding a child safety knob to the closet doorknob. LPA has advised that all areas in the home have been inspected and are approved for care. Child Care shall not be primarily conducted in or limited to the back building. Fire clearance on file notes that an additional back building could be used for activities with no more than 10 occupants at a time. Licensee fully understands that the back building is an extension of the day care which shall be used for additional activities and not solely as an area used to care for children. Licensee's poisons, detergent, cleaning compounds, medications and other items which could pose a danger to child are stored where they are inaccessible to children. LPA observed a functional smoke and carbon monoxide detector in the living room area. A 2A-10BC fire extinguisher was observed and was serviced on 12/28/2024. There is a working telephone on site. Per the licensee, there are no firearms or pets on the premises. Licensee obtained current Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification expires on 9/28/2026. Licensee completed Mandated Reporter training and expires on 12/28/2026. Page 2 of 3 All childcare employees must complete mandated reporter training within 30 days of hire and renew training every two years at www.mandatedreporterca.com Licensee will be posting the required documents in the FCCH in the living room area; Facility License (LIC 203), Notification of Parents' Rights Poster (PUB 394) and Emergency Disaster Plan (LIC610a) and Earthquake preparedness Checklist. Once posted in the home, licensee will be sending pictures of posted documents to LPA. Licensee will send LPA pictures of the purchased child safety doors knobs place on the doors in the closet in the living room, playroom and bedroom 1 by the end of day, June 23, 2025 to be in compliance with California Title 22 Regulations and home deemed safe for daycare children. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days during facility\342\200\231s hours of operation. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.
