What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Seung Lee conducted an unannounced annual random inspection. Upon arrival LPA Lee met with Director Susie Maroulakis who provided a tour of the facility. This facility is a preschool program with a toddler component that operates Monday-Friday 7AM-6PM. During the inspection, LPA Lee observed 18 children in the Toddler Room with 3 staff members; 10 napping children in the Primary Room with 1 staff member; 19 napping children in the Primary 2 Room ; 21 children in the next classroom with 2 staff members; 8 children with 2 staff members in the last classroom observed. Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. Children have their own cubby to store their belongings. Napping equipment is available in form of cots. Reminder: Linens are to be taken home each week to be washed. There is available drinking water in form of water jugs and personal water bottles labeled with the child's name. Children are signed in and out at the entrance of the facility near the office using an electronic system. The Director's office and staff restroom are used as the isolation area for any ill children. The facility has a kitchen were meals and snacks are prepared and cooked for the children. The kitchen was inspected and observed to be clean, orderly, and sufficient storage for supplies. Any food brought by children is stored in their classroom. The facility provides lunch and two snacks. The menus were observed to be posted in the kitchen and facility. LPAs inspected the children’s outdoor space. The playground was inspected for safety, cushioning material, good repair and age appropriateness. LPA observed shade and adequate fencing. The toddler component was observed to have its own outside play space separate from the preschool with its own entrance. Facility was observed to have conducted and passed the lead testing on 12/08/2022. The results were observed to be posted in the area by the main entrance. Smoke and Carbon monoxide detectors were observed to be in operating condition during the inspection. Children and Staff files were reviewed during the inspection. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. The notice of site inspection must remain posted for a period of 30 days during hours of operation. Failure to maintain posting for 30 days will result in a civil penalty of $100.00 dollars.
