What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Dayna Chambers conducted an unannounced annual inspection on December 7, 2022 at: 1:30PM. LPA met with Rudy Rodriguez, Site Supervisor, who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. This is a preschool program which consists of 3 classrooms; RM #1-Leaping Lizards, RM#2 \342\200\223 Bizzy Bees, and RM #3 \342\200\223 Puddle Ducks. Facility operation hours are Monday to Friday from 6:45 AM to 6:30 PM. All areas identified on the Facility Sketch were inspected. Upon arrival, the following staff were present during this inspection: Room 1-Leaping Lizards were with Staff #1 and 9 preschoolers; Room #2 \342\200\223 Bizzy Bees is currently closed due to low enrollment, and RM #3- Puddle Ducks with Staff #2 and 8 preschoolers. The facility was observed to be within the license capacity and limitations. The following was observed during the tour of the facility: Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and in good repair. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. Children have their own cubby to store their belongings. The Center provides washing of Linens. Napping equipment (mats) were observed in a separate storage room. Per Site supervisor, the isolation area is in the office. Age appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability and good repair in all restrooms. General sanitation was observed. Drinking Water is provided by the parents and center has bottled water if needed. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other items that are dangerous to children, were inaccessible to children. Carbon monoxide detectors were observed and are operable. This center does not provide snacks and meals; parent provide the food for children. All kitchen areas/food preparation areas and food storage areas are kept clean and are free of litter, rubbish, rodents, and/or any other vermin. All storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins shall have tight-fitting covers that are kept on, and in good repair. Trash cans used to discard food have tight fitting lids or solid waste bags shall be discarded immediately after each meal. Outdoor playground equipment is in a safe condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. All areas around or under high climbing equipment, swings, slides, and similar equipment are cushioned with material that absorbs a fall. There is adequate shade in the play yard. Drinking water is provided by parents and the center has bottled water to provide when needed. LPA advised that no children shall be left without the supervision of a teacher at any time. All floors were observed to be clean and safe. All materials accessible to children were observed to be toxic-free There are no firearms stored on the premises. There are no pools or bodies of water at the facility. All individuals present have obtained a criminal record clearance or criminal record exemption. There is at least one person trained in CPR and Pediatric First Aid present during this inspection. Children\342\200\231s Records were reviewed. (The name, address, and telephone number of child\342\200\231s authorized representative is on file) and medical Assessment.) for completeness; Inspection of required forms was made and documented on the LIC 857. LPA also reviewed staff records. The review of Staff records was documented on the LIC 859. Staff present did have proof of the AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training certificate on file. Staff present did have proof against TB, measles, pertussis, and influenza. All staff have been given on the-job training sanitation principles, housekeeping, including universal health precautions. LPA also issued the Review of Staff records (LIC 859) to the licensee during this inspection. The LIC 857 and the LIC 859 documents the staff and children\342\200\231s files that were reviewed during this inspection.Children's roster was reviewed and is current. This center uses Bright Wheel for Sign-In and Sign-Out, LPA reviewed the printout. Children present were signed in. Disaster drill log was available, last drill was conducted on November 16, 2022.The center does not provide food or snacks. Preschoolers bring their own food. First Aid supplies were observed in the classroom. According to the Site Supervisor, medication is only administered to a child when accompanied with a doctor's note and is stored in the office. The facility was observed to be equipped with an isolation area for any child who becomes ill and it is in the office. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. There were no deficiencies cited during today\342\200\231s inspection. Exit interview was conducted with Site Supervisor, Rudy Rodriguez.The Notice of Site Visit (LIC 9213) \342\200\223 must remain posted for 30 days during the hours of operation after each site visit by a licensing representative.
