What the inspector wrote

An unannounced required inspection was conducted by Licensing Program Analyst Seung Lee. Upon arrival LPA Lee met with Hedi Menkrios, Director who provided a tour of the facility. This infant program consists of 1 classroom. Hours of operations are Monday-Friday 6:30AM-6:30PM. Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. Each room identified on facility sketch were inspected. Children are brought to the front door where parents sign in and sign out the children. The infant program has its own entrance for parents to sign in and out from the preschool program. Facility conducts a health check upon arrival for each child. During the inspection LPA Lee observed age-appropriate furniture and equipment in the classroom which appear to be in good condition. The napping area is separated by a plexi-glass partition (42 inches). There are cribs available for the infants, and roll-away cribs in case of emergency or evacuation. Napping equipment (cots) were also observed in the classroom. Children's linens are not to come in contact with other children's linens. The room has central heating and air-conditioning. The outdoor activity area is surrounded by an iron fence to separate the preschool and infant programs. The outdoor play area has age appropriate play structures, and are in good condition. There is a wooden structure in the play area that will be covered and converted into shaded area. Portable water will be provided to children during outdoor play. Infant Care: LPA advised that infants must be visually supervised at all times. LPA provided the designee with a copy of the Child Care Provider\342\200\231s Guide to Safe Sleep, by American Academy of Pediatrics. Infant needs and services plan were observed to be current during a random selection of records being reviewed. LPA Lee advised the facility to refer to the latest guidelines from the California Department of Health for Child Care Centers. LPA advised the Facility on how to access forms and regulations on line at: www.ccld.ca.gov Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. The notice of site inspection must remain posted for a period of 30 days during hours of operation. Failure to maintain posting for 30 days will result in a civil penalty of $100.00 dollars.
