What the inspector wrote

On 8/29/2023, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Crystal Green and Carolyn Tuba conducted an unannounced case management licensee-initiated inspection. LPAs met with Child Development Program Director, Rosie Ducoing. The preschool program hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8:00am to 6pm. This facility is located on the campus of Bassett High School. There were no children present during this inspection. This is a preschool program with a toddler component that is currently licensed to operate 4 classrooms, which are classrooms 1, 2, 706 (Toddler) and classroom 3 (Preschool). Child Development Program Director has requested to switch preschoolers from classroom 3 to classroom 706 and toddlers from classroom 706 to classroom 3. LPAs inspected classrooms 1,2,3 and 706 and measured both indoor and outdoor space. LPAs observed 2 toilets and 2 sinks in classroom 1,2,3. Classroom 706 has 1 child size toilet and 1 child size sink, however there is a staff bathroom that can be converted into a child’s bathroom by using a smaller toilet seat and step stool to reach the sink. The staff have an adult bathroom they may utilize which is located in the hallway by classrooms 2 and 3. There are 2 playgrounds and one is designated for the toddlers and the other is designated for the preschool which is separated by a chain link fence. During this inspection measurements were obtained both indoor and outdoor to determine capacity. Classroom 706 (Preschool) measured for a capacity of 27 children Classroom 1 (Toddler) measured for a capacity of 20 children Classroom 2 (Toddler) measured for a capacity of 19 children Classroom 3 (Toddler) measured for a capacity of 20 children Preschool Outdoor space measured for a capacity of 49 Toddler Outdoor space measured for a capacity of 50 page 1 of 2 There is an approved waiver on file allowing the toddler component, however after obtaining measurements during this inspection the waiver was determined that is no longer necessary. The outdoor play equipment was observed to be in good condition and age appropriate. During the visit Child Development Program Director consulted with LPAs regarding using classroom 705 as a potential infant program, currently the space is not licensed for use. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Child Development Program Director, Rosie Ducoing. page 2 of 2
