What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Jennifer Hua conducted an unannounced required inspection. LPA met with Site Coordinator Maria Pinedo, who guided the LPA on a tour of the facility at around 2:07pm. This is a school age program licensed for 30 children which operates Monday – Friday (Summer Only) from 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM. Per the Site Coordinator there are 26 children enrolled. Upon arrival, the following staff was present during this inspection: Sunset Room: Staff #1 and #2 with 20 children. Teacher-child ratios were observed to be in accordance with Title 22 Regulations. Staff names were recorded. All children were observed to be under supervision, including visual supervision, of a teacher at all times. The licensed facility is within the conditions, limitations, and capacity specified on the license. Furniture and equipment were inspected for good repair, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. The indoor classroom was inspected to ensure that the floors have a surface that is safe and clean. Storage for medication was inspected to ensure that medications are in a safe place inaccessible to children. All toilets and hand washing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating conditions. All materials and surfaces accessible to children are toxic free. Storage areas for poisons are locked. At this time, the office is used as an isolation area. There are chairs in the office a cot is also provided to the children. Parents are contacted immediately when children are determined to be ill. Snack menus were reviewed to ensure that they are being posted at least one week in advance and visible to an authorized representative. The facility provides AM snack and PM snack. The facility does not provide lunch. Page 1 of 3 All kitchen, food prep, and storage areas are clean, free of litter, rubbish, and rodents/vermin. All food is protected from contamination. All foods/beverages capable of spoiling are stored in covered containers at 45˚ (F) or less. There is drinking water available in the indoor classroom and drinking containers are taken outdoors. Solid waste storage vessels, including moveable bins, have tight fitting covers on and are in good repair. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons and other items that are dangerous to children are inaccessible. Facility has one or more functioning carbon monoxide detectors that meet statutory requirements. Outdoor play equipment was observed to be in good condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. Outdoor activity space surface is maintained in a safe condition as is free of hazards. Areas around and/or under climbing equipment, cushioning material to absorb a fall; climbing apparatuses are single level only. The Site Coordinator also stated that there are no bodies of water on the premises and LPA did not observe any bodies of water during this inspection. Per Site Coordinator, the facility uses digital sign in and out. Facility is able to print out sign in and sign out sheets if needed. Children’s Records were reviewed to ensure an admission agreement is on file. Children’s Records were reviewed to ensure an Identification and Emergency Form (LIC 700) is on file. Staff Records were reviewed to ensure that appropriate documentation of education credits is on file. Criminal Records Clearance for adults and verification of CPR/First Aid and health preventative practices documentation was reviewed. LPA verified all necessary documents present for staff. Proof of immunization against influenza, pertussis and measles for staff was readily available during today's inspection. LPA reviewed staff current Mandated Reporter Training as required. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. LPA advised the Site Coordinator how to access forms, regulations and quarterly updates by visiting the Child Care Licensing website at: www.ccld.ca.gov . No deficiency cited. The Notice of Site Visit (LIC 9213) – must remain posted for 30 days during the hours of operation after each site visit by a licensing reprehensive. Failure to maintain posting as required will result in a civil penalty of $100.00. Exit interview was conducted with Site Coordinator, Maria Pinedo. The Site Coordinator was provided a copy of their appeal rights (LIC 9058) and their signature on this form acknowledges receipt of these forms.
