What the inspector wrote

. An announced increase on capacity site inspection was conducted on this date by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Cynthia Reyes to inspect and measure the 2 additional classrooms that are being requested to use for the increase in the Toddler component. Licensing staff met with Sakuntala Abeyasekera, Director. Days & Hours for the preschool and toddler option are Monday- Friday 7AM-6 PM. This facility operates as a preschool with a toddler option. The facility consists of 5 classrooms. Classroom #1 is for the preschool children and classrooms # 2,3,4, and 5 will be for the toddler option. Children are signed in upon entrance to the building where attendance books for each class will be available. Parents enter from the parking lot located on Stoneman Ave, through the gate of the outdoor playground. The area located in the auditorium serves as the ill isolation area, which has a bench with a blanket or cushion mat for an ill child to rest and is located by the staff restroom which is located in the auditorium and is designated as the men’s rest room by the church, and it will be used by an ill child only if needed. The preschool has a children's bathroom located in the auditorium, which is designated by the church as the woman’s bathroom. This bathroom has 2 toilets and 2 sinks. The Toddler bathroom is located between classrooms #4 and 5 which has 1 toilet, 1 sink, and 1 potty chair, also available in this bathroom is a changing table within arms reach of the sink. Classroom #5 has a bathroom in the room with 1 toilet and 1 sink. A stool will be made available for use by children to reach all toilets and sinks. Preschool and toddler children are escorted and supervised by staff when using the bathrooms. LPA observed age-appropriate furniture, equipment, toys and supplies available for children to use and are in good repair. Storage space and cubbies were observed in the classrooms. There is a first aid kit available with all the required supplies. Drinking water is available in form of water bottles and or children bring their own personal water bottles. Medication brought for children are stored in cabinets that are out of reach and inaccessible to children per Director. Page 1 of 3 Snack menu were observed in the posting area by the entrance. This facility serves AM and PM snack. Children bring their own lunches from home. Licensee states they use the Church kitchen area in the auditorium for snack preparation. There is also a refrigerator in the preschool classroom that holds drinks and cold snacks. The outdoor activity area is properly fenced. The outdoor play area has age-appropriate play structures and are in good condition. There is cushioning material underneath the play structure. There is shaded area in the outdoor space. Drinking water is available in forms of water jugs and personal water bottles. The facility has a waiver on file for shared outdoor space between the preschool and toddler children using an outdoor staggered play schedule. Class room 4 & 5 were measured and inspected with the rest of the preschool and toddler program. Measurements will be approved for the requested capacity of 8 in room #5 and capacity of 5 in room #4. preschool capacity will remain at 16 and Toddlers will be licensed for total of 23. Total Outdoor measurements remain the same for outdoor capacity of 27. Toddlers 2 toilet/urinal and 2 sinks, capacity is 30 and preschools 2 toilet/urinal and 2 sinks, capacity is 30. There were no deficiencies cited during today’s inspection . However LPA requested photos of signs placed on bathrooms, License & waiver placed on parent board and photo of changing table next to sink. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Consultation with staff was conducted on this date regarding the changing table to stay within arms reach of the sink and staff are not to use the children's bathroom. Waiver will be updated to reflect new capacity. 2:45 PM Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Director Sakuntala Abeyasekera
