What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Seung Lee conducted an unannounced required inspection. Upon arrival LPA Lee met with Staff member Kalylin Uong who provided a tour of the facility. The facility Director was not present due to an appointment outside of the facility. LPA Lee observed a total of 16 children with 4 staff members during the inspection. This facility operates as a preschool with a toddler option. The facility consists of 4 classrooms (2 preschool & 2 toddler), 2 children's restrooms, and 1 playground (shared with approved waiver on file with the Department). The center hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Children are signed in upon entrance to the building where attendance books for each class will be available. Parents enter from the parking lot located on Stoneman Ave, through the gate of the outdoor playground. The area located at the entrance of the facility from the playground serves as the ill isolation area. There is a bench with a cushion for an ill child to rest. The staff restroom located in the auditorium are to be used by ill children. A stool will be made available for use by children to reach the toilet and sink. Children are escorted and supervised by staff when using the restroom. LPAs observed age-appropriate furniture and equipment for children to use. There were toys and supplies available for children. Storage space and cubbies were observed in the classrooms. There is a first aid kit in the preschool and toddler 2 classroom. Drinking water will be available in form of water jugs and children bring their own personal water bottles. Medication brought for children are stored in cabinets that are out of reach and inaccessible to children per Director. Snack menu was observed in the posting area by the entrance. This facility serves AM and PM snack. Children bring their own lunches from home. Children's restrooms were inspected. The preschool component can access their restroom through the auditorium. Children must be escorted and supervised at all times during their transition to and from their restrooms. The restrooms were observed to be clean and no need for repair. The toddler restroom is located down the hall nearby the toddler classrooms. The outdoor activity area was observed to be properly fenced. The outdoor play area has age appropriate play structures, and are in good condition. There is turf underneath the climbing structure with cushioning material underneath. There is shaded area in the outdoor space. Drinking water are available in forms of water jugs and personal water bottles. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. No deficiencies were cited during todays inspection. The notice of site inspection must remain posted for a period of 30 days during hours of operation.
