What the inspector wrote

An announced pre-licensing site inspection was conducted today by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Crystal Green to inspect and measure facility for capacity determination. Due to COVID- 19 precautionary measures were taken, individuals present during inspection wore appropriate personal protective equipment. Applicant is seeking to provide care for 30 preschoolers. The Applicant is currently licensed at 1817 S. Jackson Ave., San Gabriel 91776 (198020719). Licensing staff met with Applicant, Rukmal Samaranayaka, who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. The facility hours of operation will be Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm. Upon arrival, LPA was informed that the main entrance to the facility will be located at the back of the building accessible from the back-parking lot. Due to COVID- 19 precautionary measures, Applicant states that parents drop off and pick up will be conducted at the back entrance of the facility. Staff will be conducting temperature checks and the children will complete hand washing prior to joining their classrooms. LPA observed a sink available near the entrance. Facility was observed to provide clean pens for parents to sign in and sign out. Per Applicant, pens will be sanitized after each use. At 1:30 PM, Licensing staff was guided through a tour of the proposed preschool classrooms. The proposed preschool rooms will be the Main Classroom, Classroom 1, and Classroom 2. LPA observed a restroom located in the Main Classroom with 2 toilets and 2 sinks. The staff restroom is located outside of the director office. All toilets and sinks are in safe and sanitary operating conditions. Licensing staff observed children sleeping mats stored in Staff restroom and Director\342\200\231s office. Individual storage space was observed available for each child located near the entrance of the facility. Children will bring their own sippy cup for water due to COVID-19 precautionary measure. Per Applicant, facility will also have additional water bottle available. Toys were observed to be clean and safe. Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. There are smoke detectors and fire extinguishers located throughout the facility. The isolation area for an ill children will be in located in the director\342\200\231s office area. Report Continues Page 1 of 2 At 1:45 PM, Licensing staff was guided through the proposed outdoor activity space. The outdoor area was observed to have a secured fence surrounding the property. There is adequate shade in outdoor play area. All areas around or under high climbing equipment, and slides were observed to have cushion material to absorb a fall. Facility will provide AM and PM snacks and parents will provide lunch for their child. No transportation is being conducted by the facility. Applicant is requesting a capacity of thirty (30) preschoolers. At this time, the outdoor activity space capacity measured for ten (10) preschoolers. Based on measurements obtained today from both indoors and outdoors, Applicant will need to submit a waiver request for usage of the outdoor space on staggered schedule. All waivers are subject to review and final approval by the Regional Office. The following correction need to be made prior to submitting application for final approval. \342\200\242 Pending receipt of approved Fire Clearance (STD 850).
