What the inspector wrote
At 8:30 am Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Roxana Lopez and Saul Valenzuela conducted an unannounced required annual inspection to the above facility. A risk assessment was conducted upon entry- appropriate PPE was used. LPAs met with Darshana Mcnair, Licensee who guided analysts on a tour of the facility. Per Licensee, there are 9 children currently enrolled. A current children\342\200\231s roster was available for review. There were 0 children present upon arrival.
The licensee states that 1 adult and 2 children currently live in the home. Per Licensee, they currently have 0 assistants. All adults present in the home have obtained a criminal record clearance or exemption prior to working, residing, or volunteering in the licensed childcare home. Licensee states that there are no firearms and poisons stored in the home.
This is a one-story home which consists of 4 bedrooms, 2 restrooms, living room, kitchen, backyard and patio (fenced). The children have access to living room, bedroom #1 (daycare room), restroom # 1 located in the hallway near the daycare room and backyard that is adequately fenced.
Per licensee, areas off limits to children and parents include: 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, patio and front yard.
The LPA toured all areas used by children during this visit. LPAs observed a baby gate leading towards the kitchen making it inaccessible to children.

All areas identified on the facility sketch that are accessible for children to use were inspected for safety, comfort, and cleanliness. There is telephone service via a landline and a cellphone that stays at the facility during operation hours. There is ventilation and heating (central). The following was observed and reviewed during this inspection.
Detergents, cleaning compounds, and medications were observed to be inaccessible to children. LPAs Lopez and Valenzuela observed kitchen knifes are placed above the refrigerator making it inaccessible to children. The restroom that children use was observed to be safe and sanitary.
The valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged and was purchased on 4/03/2024, as indicated on purchase receipt. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were tested and are operable. All homes shall conduct fire and disaster drills at least once every six months, and document the date and time of each drill. Last drill documented was conducted on 11/22/2023.
Emergency Disaster Plan, Parent\342\200\231s Rights Poster and the Facility License were observed to be posted in the living room.
The home is observed to be clean and orderly. Where children less than five years old are in care, stairs are fenced or barricaded. There are toys available for children. Appropriate sleeping arrangements were observed.
LPAs discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at

as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee [or facility representative] of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at

and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

LPAs did not observe the following items during the inspection: Infant Walkers, Johnny Jumpers, Saucer Chairs, Trampolines and/or any other item that fall into these categories are not permitted in a family child care facility.
Smoking is prohibited in a licensed Family Child Care Home. Per Licensee, no one smokes in the home.
Currently, children are using the back yard for outdoor play time. The outdoor play area was observed to be fenced. LPAs observed that the outdoor yard has toys and other materials for children to play with. LPAs did not observe any objects that can pose a danger to children on the outdoor yard. There are no pets on the premises.
The licensee is observed to be operating within the license capacity limitations.
At 09:15 am children\342\200\231s records were reviewed, including emergency information and were observed to be complete.
The licensee has completed training on preventive health practices including Pediatric First Aid and CPR. The licensee's Pediatric First Aid and CPR expires on 10/30/2025. There are first aid supplies available. LPA observed that the Licensee does have proof of immunization record and the Mandated Reporter AB 1207 compliant Child Care Training Certificate on file.
LPA issued a copy of the LIC 857 Children\342\200\231s Records Review and the LIC 859 Staff Records Review to the licensee during this inspection.

MyChildCarePlan.org \342\200\223 Centers and Family Child Care Homes Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.
LPAs advised the licensee to access forms, regulations and quarterly updates on line at:

Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
Megan\342\200\231s Law - Family Child Care Homes During the exit interview, the LICENSEE Darshana Mc Nair, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS.
