Upon arrival, LPA met with Applicant Representative Verna Latchman and Shane Gardner. Applicant, A Child's Place Learning and Play Centers, LLC. has requested to be licensed for 30 school age children ages 5 to 13 years old in classrooms 201 and 202 located on the second floor of the building. Hours of operation will be Monday to Friday from 6am to 6pm. This facility is in a two-story building accessible from S. Western Ave. and Browning Blvd. across the street from Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary. The applicant also has pending application for a preschool program (198021323) located on the same premise on the first floor. The school program will operate on the second floor of the building. LPA observed the second floor to be accessible via a stairwell located outside of the building. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPA informed Verna Latchman that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities. When medications are on site, Verna Latchman stated that they will be kept in the staff lounge located on the second floor room 203. A fully equipped first aid kit is located in the main reception area located on the first floor in classroom 101. There is an operational carbon monoxide detector on site located throughout the premises. All required licensing documents were observed posted in the main reception area. Children will be signed in and out near the entrance to the classroom 202. LPA continued to tour the facility and measured all indoor and outdoor activity space. Total indoor activity space measured 1,250.27 square footage, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 30 Children. Page 2: LPA observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via bottled water. LPA observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. Fire clearance was granted on 10/19/2023 by the LA City Fire Department. LPA observed a total of 2 sinks and a total of 2 toilets available for children\342\200\231s use.
