What the inspector wrote

On May 6, 2025 at 8:50 am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Priscilla Ochoa conducted an unannounced case management inspection for an Action Level Exceedance (ALE) detected in a water fixture in the facility. LPA was greeted by Director, Alin Dimitian, who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. Shortly after, Co-Director, Talin Elmedjian arrived and took over the inspection. There were 6 children present during the time of the inspection and 2 staff members. LPA reviewed new Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, which requires the testing of water for lead in Child Care Centers (CCCs) with facility director during the inspection. Per AB 2370, all CCCs that are located in buildings constructed before January 1, 2010, must have their water tested and post the results by January 1, 2023, and every 5 years after the date of the first testing. Facility provided facility sketch and required forms LIC 9276, LIC999 and LIC9275 to LPA during today\342\200\231s inspection. On April 29, 2025, the Department received notification from the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB), Division of Drinking Water (DDW). The SWRCB report indicated the facility was inspected and samples were collected on March 25,2025. Faucets and drinking fountain reported with 5.5 ppb or greater lead exceedance levels were as follows: \302\267 A - which is located on the second floor of the facility in the kitchen area LPA observed the faucet to have running water and accessible. Director states that the sink in the kitchen has not been used for food preparation, as parents have been providing children their own food. Page 1 of 2 Director also stated that the facility provides bottled water. LPA consulted with Director that faucet with lead exceedance should me made inaccessible. Director will be removing the faucet making it inaccessible in the meantime. Director will retest the water in sink in the kitchen area for lead exceedance. If lead exceedance is re-detected, the faucet will be removed permanently. Grant funding will be available for testing and remediation of lead to the Child Care Centers that qualify. Please see attached LIC 809-D. The deficiency that is being cited needs to be cleared to protect the children\342\200\231s health & safety. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days during facility\342\200\231s hours of operation. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. An exit interview was conducted, and a copy of the report was provided to Director, Talin Elmedjian.
