What the inspector wrote

While conducting an investigation for a complaint, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), T. Tran observed the following deficiency: At 12:30PM, during the tour of the facility, LPA observed 9 out of 18 children were napping with only S1 (see LIC811) supervising the children in the front room. LPA observed 9 children were fully awake, some children observed walking around the classroom while other playing/talking with peers while sitting at the cot. Facility was cited a type B deficiency. See Facility Evaluation Report LIC 809D for deficiency cited. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the facility representative, Karla Martinez.

    Napping Ratio:A teacher-child ratio of one teacher supervising 24 napping children is permitted provided that the remaining teachers necessary to meet the overall ratio specified in Section 101216.3(a) are immediately available at the center. This requirement is not met as evidenced by based on observation, facility failed to maintain compliance ratio during naptime. LPA observed only S1, supervised 9 out of 18 children napping, which poses a potential health and safety risk to children in care.
